Didcot and Bishops Cleeve played out a
2-2 draw at the Loop yesterday as both sides protected their unbeaten
starts to their League campaigns. |
 |
There's little doubt that Cleeve ended
the happier of the two sides as Town contrived to throw away a 2-1 lead
against 10 men with just 2 minute remaining. Town then had a goal
ruled out for offside, a decision that was hotly disputed by those in
line with the play. |
 |
Next action for the First Team is next
Saturday at Chipping Norton. |

The two last unbeaten Hellenic League
teams meet tomorrow as Town and Bishops Cleeve clash at the Loop Meadow
Stadium. Both teams have games in hand on top-placed Slimbridge
and will be looking to cut the gap on them with a win. Last season
honours were even in League matches, Cleeve winning 1-0 at the Loop and
Town 2-1 at Kayte Lane. The last meeting was the Town's memorable
3-1 in the League Cup Final at Fairford in May. |
 |
Stuart Peace's injury problems seem to
have eased a little with only Ian Concannon and long-term absentee Andy
Cooper definitely out of contention. Grant Goodall and Paul Powell
are both back in the squad after recent injuries and Matty Jack returns
after being cup-tied for the game against Abingdon in the Vase last
week. Full Report in Season Stats Section on Sunday. |

Didcot secured a memorable 1-0 win
against neighbours Abingdon United yesterday to book a place in the FA
vase 2nd Round. Laurence Hoey was the hero, scoring his first
senior goal for the club, but everyone played their part and despite a
couple of hairy moments near the end Didcot were the better side
throughout. full Report in Season Stats. |

Please note that Tuesday's game against Witney Utd is
off after their game was postponed at Hassocks (they will now play that
game on the same night). |

United are the in-form side in the

Didcot returned from table-topping
Slimbridge yesterday with a creditable draw. Things couldn't have
gone better as we raced into a 2-0 lead in the first half hour thanks to
goals from Bradley Ward and Stuart Beavon. But the hosts aren't
top for nothing and they showed plenty of spirit to hit back and claim a
share of the points. Didcot had chances to win it, as did
Slimbridge, and we came agonisingly close twice when hitting the
woodwork, but a draw was probably a fair result. Read Bucko's
match report which is online in Season Stats. |

the Reserves won a tough encounter 3-2
at Marcham to progress in the Berks & Bucks Intermediate Cup. |

Stuart Beavon notched his first
hat-trick for Town as Didcot ran out 4-1 winners at Henley tonight.
Other scorer was Matty Jack. Town actually fell behind early-on
and did well to turn things round. One bit of bad news, Paul
Powell picked up a knee injury that could see him out of Saturday's top
of the table clash at Slimbridge. Full Report in Season Stats
Section. |

Didcot thumped Pewsey Vale 5-0 last
night in front of our biggest crowd of the season. |
 |
It was a thoroughly entertaining
performance and goals from Ian Concannon (2), debutant Matty Jack,
Bradley Ward and an own goal made if 6 straight League wins at home. |
 |
Next up is the tricky game at Henley
on Tuesday, who always prove to be tough opponents especially at the
Triangle. News of that match here on-line first. |

Didcot won for the first time at
Kilkenny Lane since 1999 with a superb 2-1 win at Carterton yesterday.
The match wasn't without controversy, with the home side claiming a
penalty kick early in the second half that the referee turned down, but
on the balance of play, and chances created, I think Didcot just about
deserved the three points. Full Report in Season Stats Section. |
