 | Joffy has created
a
map of the relative locations
of the clubs (Leachy we are the red flag): |
 | We find ourselves
fairly centrally positioned and while we will see an increase in
travel times it still looks an exciting list of new clubs to visit.
Highlights clearly are the visit to Oxford City, the overseas trip
to Newport IOW, returns to Swindon, Lymington, Andover, Beaconsfield
and Abingdon Utd plus nearish neighbours Thatcham and FA Vase
winners the year before us Winchester. |
 | Tomorrow night is
our end of season presentation evening - lists of winners etc
on-site over the weekend. |

 | The First Team signed off the
season with a comprehensive 5-0 Challenge Cup victory yesterday
against Ardley Utd at Carterton. Match Report: |
 | Champions Didcot Town signed off
from the Hellenic League with a third consecutive win in the
Challenge Cup Final. After wins against Bishops Cleeve and Carterton
in past seasons they beat Ardley United 5-0 for a memorable treble.
Didcot started on the offensive and Ardley keeper Steve Edwards made
a brilliant double save from Andy Parrott and Andy Wallbridge within
the first two minutes. Moments later, however, Edwards could do
nothing to prevent Parrott nodding home from Danny Wallbridge’s
knock-down.
Stuart Beavon had the next chance but shot weakly at Edwards before
Didcot doubled their advantage in the 18th minute. Beavon broke into
the box and he unselfishly squared the ball to Ian Concannon to
stoke home from 10 yards.
Edwards made another outstanding save to deny Concannon two minute
later. Ardley nearly pulled a goal back when Phil Martin broke away
from a Didcot corner but his shot went wide.
The goal of the game came on the half-hour when Beavon broke clear
to set-up Jack King who fired a stunning right-foot shot into the
corner from 20 yards.
Beavon himse;lf got on the score-sheet shortly afterwards when he
chipped Edwards in to make it 4-0.
There were still further opportunities for Didcot to score more
before the break but again Edwards was in inspired form. First he
denied Concannon and then Beavon with his feet. On the stroke of
half-time Ardley should have scored following a mis-judgement from
Didcot keeper Chris Webb but Danny Campbell was on hand to clear.
Half Time: 0 - 4
Didcot regained the flow eight minutes into the 2nd half when Beavon
brought a great save from Edwards. Didcot scored their 5th goal in
the 57th minute when Concannon received a pass and slotted the ball
to Beavon to hit his second of the game. After this the pace slowed
as Didcot played the ball around to complete a hat trick of cup
wins. Ardley worked hard but were held firm by Campbell and
Wallbridge in Didcot’s defence.
Didcot: Webb; Beckett (Goodall 55); Jack (Bedwell 60); Campbell;
Wallbridge; Parrott; Heapy; King; Concannon; Beavon; Powell (Green
70). |
 | The win puts a seal on arguably
our most successful season ever on the eve of our centenary season.
Stuart Peace and his team have re-written the record books this
campaign and it's been an absolute pleasure to have been following
the club over the past two seasons. WELL DONE TO EACH AND
EVERY PLAYER AND THE MANAGEMENT TEAM. |
 | The season formally closes this
Friday with the End of Season Presentation Evening. Not
surprisingly the function room is going to be full to the rafters to
celebrate the successes not just of the First Team, but Reserves and
Youth sides too. |
 | Over the forthcoming days we will
have a new Vote Caster Poll for goal of the season (nominations
please on the Messageboard). |
 | The next fixture is the
mouth-watering prospect of Didcot hosting a Premiership club
(Reading) for the first time in our history. The game is
scheduled for Friday 14th July, and will be all-ticket.
Details to follow but we will be selling tickets probably towards
the end of May and into June. |
 | We should find out this week
which teams will make up our League next season at Level 4.
First News of that can be found here on-line. |
 | PLEASE CONTINUE
TO DRINK AT THE CLUB OVER THE SUMMER MONTHS AND WE URGE ALL DIDCOT
SUPPORTERS TO WATCH THE WORLD CUP MATCHES ON THE BIG SCREEN AT THE
LOOP. DETAILS OF MATCHES AND ANY SPECIAL EVENTS WILL BE
ADVERTISED HERE SO PLEASE VISIT THIS SITE REGULARLY! |
 | IT IS VITAL TO
KEEP ON SUPPORTING THE CLUB AS EVERY PENNY WILL BE NEEDED IF WE ARE
TO COMPETE IN THE SOUTHERN LEAGUE NEXT YEAR. |

 | The First Team bring the season
to a close this weekend with the Hellenic League Challenge Cup
Final, against Ardley Utd, at Carterton on Saturday. |
 | Didcot have a fantastic record in
recent years and are looking to lift the trophy for the 3rd time in
a row. Ironically, the first of these wins was under the
management of Peter Foley (with Stuart Peace as assistant), and he
now manages at Ardley. |
 | We are are in excellent form, our
last defeat was at Almondsbury at the start of February, and spirits
within the team are running very high. However, Ardley have
proved this season that they can match anyone on their day and with
this being a final the formbook can be thrown out the window.
Peter Foley is an excellent tactician, he has seen how we play, and
I expect he has a plan up his sleeve. It looks set for an
exciting end to the season. |
 | On the playing front Stuart
should have a near full strength team to pick from with Bradley Ward
a possibility after a recent groin injury. |
