A couple of bits
of news - on the playing front Paul Bedwell has agreed to return after
his season away with Wantage (where he was Player of the Year).
Bedders is a no nonsense defender who performed consistently well for us
the season before last. |
 |
Didcot Town have
scooped 2nd place in the National Programme Swap Shop awards, an
improvement of 8 places on last year's 10th. We were pipped into
1st place by Conference outfit Exeter City. The awards are open to
all non-league clubs, but I'm not sure how the places are calculated.

Brief update although very little to
report to be honest. |
 |
Manager Stuart Peace is awaiting news
on which players will stay before making too many plans about who he
wishes to bring in for next season. Stuart tells me that he is
hopeful that most (if not all) of his Vase winning side will be at the
Loop next season so there may not be too much to report on the transfer
scene in or out. |
 |
Away from the playing side we hope
there will be one or two other things that take shape during close
season. We should be seeing a new kitchen area evolving on the
side of Doddy's bar - this will allow for a club shop where the current
food hatch is situated and an extra ladies loo also provided. |
 |
Longer term we are actively seeking
grants for the long awaited fencing to protect our training pitch, along
with the new Railway End stand for the main pitch. Plans have
already been drawn, and planning permission in place for this work,
funding is now the priority. |
 |
I hope to speak to a couple of the
players over the next month to reflect on last season's events and also
their hopes and aspirations for next season - I will post those
'interviews' on-line. |

Not too much news to report at the
moment to be honest as the players have a well earned rest.. However,
two who were back on club business were Ian Concannon and Jamie Heapy
were the player's representatives at the League's presentation evening
on Friday night, along with a handful of the club's committee. Ian
Concannon was presented with his Golden Boot award for finishing
League's top scorer from guest Martin Peters. The club were also
congratulated on winning the FA Vase by the League Chairman and
secretary. All in all an enjoyable end to a memorable season. |

The pre-season friendly at Banbury
Unted has been changed to Saturday 23rd July. |
 |
No updates on player transfers as yet
but the signing-on forms aren't even out yet so nothing could be
confirmed anyway. Anything changes, I'll post it here! |
