Why the Open Challenge Series?
So you want to take part in a challenge that will test you and your team-mates to the limit, you've got the walkers, got the minibus, and got some willing drivers? You've decided to attempt the national 3 Peaks challenge and want to compete in an event where there are another 12-15 teams taking part - but don't want to be tied in to rasing some £5000 for a charity that you may not have much interest in?
The Open Challenge Series of Three Peaks Challenges has four challenge events each year where you pay just one simple team entry fee - then nothing more - no fundraising targets or commitments. Many teams and charities use the Open Challenge events to raise funds for their own charities or good causes, but this is not a condition of entry.
Your team entry fee simply goes into the organisation, safety and support, event insurance, local authority permissions, car parking, start and finish venues, loan of safety equipment including VHF radio support, and medals and certificates at the finish.

What do you need to supply yourselves?
A team of 4-8 walkers (depending upon event)
At least 2 drivers that won't be taking part in the walking
A minibus or MPV vehicle
All equipment and clothing as detailed in the Kit List
Food and drinks for your challenge attempt
We highly recommend that you stay overnight before or after your challenge - both if possible.
Your walkers need to bit fit and have lots of stamina, and will be required to sign a health declatation/medical form before the challenge. Although we have staffed safety control checkpoints, you will be expected to have a Team Leader with navigational/map reading skills. Some walking may be in the dark, and visibility may be poor in misty conditions - expect wind and rain, and snow underfoot on Ben Nevis.
Your team, including your drivers, must work well together as a team, be commited to completing the challenge, and have bags of enthusiasm

WASDALE TRAINING DAYS: 21-22 March 2009
Two separate training and familiarisation days for anyone taking part in a 3 Peaks Challenge in 2009. Team leaders from teams entered into our Open Challenge Series events are invited free of charge. Other team members at 50% discount. Please email for further details.
THREE PEAKS OF YORKSHIRE: 2 May 2009
Ideal training event for anyone attempting the national Three Peaks. Teams of 4, start anytime from 7-8am, bunkhouse and camping available at venue, Sport Ident timing, £100 per team. Details here.
SPRING STROLLER: 9-10 May 2009
The first of our Open Challenge Three Peaks events. Teams of 4-6 walkers plus 2 drivers. A popular event - but expect some snow to still be on Ben Nevis..! £800 per team. Online entry now open.
CORPORATE TEAM CHALLENGE: 26-27 June 2009
Ideal for teams representing larger companies, organisations or charities. Includes a team challenge option for those wishing to prove their team skills and win the Corporate Cups! Teams of 6-8 walkers plus 2 drivers. Evening entertainment at the finish venue. More details.
LATE SHIFT CHALLENGE: 19-20 July 2009
This event is held over Sunday/Monday for those that work shifts. Popular with service industry and emergency service teams. 4-6 walkers plus 2 drivers. Good light conditions for Scafell Pike..! Details.
DIE HARD TRILOGY: 5-6 September 2009
The hardest of all our Three Peaks with short daylight hours and less predictable weather conditions. Ideal for more experienced teams of 4-6 walkers and 2 drivers. More details.
Want to attempt the Challenge as cheaply as possible?
2009 has seen huge financial problems for many individuals and organisations. Much of the funding offered by companies for their staff to take part in Charity Challenge events has been withdrawn.
Entering one of the above Open Challenge Series events will cost from as little as £100 per person, with no fundraising, rather than your company commiting to some £5000 for a charity sponsored event.
For just a £100 per person, your company can still take part in a fantastic, exhilerating team building event, whilst helping with their Corporate Social Responsibility interests, and offering superb PR opportunities in a safe and well organised and delivered event.

All teams that have previously entered our Open Challenge Series Three Peaks Challenge events are entitled to a 25% Team Entry Discount. This discount also applies to any multiple Team entries from organisations entering more than one team in our 2009 3 Peaks events.
