  Routes and Maps
Click on the highlighted links below to see details of the routes,and a basic map of the area involved. These should be backed up with an Ordnance Survey map, and a compass.
Trail Run

Moel Fammau, Cilcain, near Mold, North Wales.
This run is around six miles long, starting on a hardpack surface and climbing up to the Offa's Dyke path, along a grassy ridge to the top, then descending via bridleway, and through some very muddy fields. Fell shoes recommended after rain! Toilets and car parking at Cilcain.

Moel Fammau, Loggerheads Country Park, nr. Mold, N. Wales.
Starting from Loggerheads, this eight mile run involves a wide variety of conditions underfoot. After a very steep climb up Moel Fammau, an interesting run to the north-most end of Loggerheads Park, then a gentle run back along the Leete path, the course of an old mining railway. Toilets, parking and coffee shop at Loggerheads.

        National Three Peaks Challenge
All the info you need to climb Ben Nevis, Scafell and Snowdon within 24 hours.

      Shining Tor, Goyt Valley, Cat and Fiddle, Derbyshire.
Various places to start on the route. This eight mile run can be cut short easily if the climbs prove too demanding. Includes a short steep climb and hair-raising descent, also a long, moderate but sustained climb along The Tors ridge. Also an enjoyable curcuit of Errwood Resr.

Road ride.
Forest of Bowland, Dunsop Bridge and Slaidburn.
A circuit through the Trough of Bowland, visiting Dunsop Bridge and Slaidburn. 37 miles on quiet scenic roads, with a shortcut option available. Some short, steep climbs but hey - that means some downhill!! Start and finish at picnic site close to Forton Services, J33 M6.

      Mountain Bike route.
Karrimor route, Coed-y-Brenin forest, nr. Bala, Snowdonia.
23 mile waymarked route on some of the best single track in Europe. 3,600 feet of climbing and descent, this route is only recommended for experienced mountain bikers. Start and finish at the excellent visitor center, cafe, toilets, bike wash, bike hire, tools and maps. Other routes available.

Forest cycling code and tips
      Red Bull route, Coed-y-Brenin forest
7 mile technical waymarked route, with steep singletrack climbs and descents. Also recommended for experienced mountain bikers only. Three easier routes from the same place. Start and finish details as above. Well worth a visit !

      Goyt Valley and Whalley Bridge, Derbyshire.
Easy but interesting route of about 20 miles around White Peak. Using mostly quiet roads and easy wide tracks with no hard climbs or terrifying downhill - this is an ideal starter ride. Can easily be shortened if required. 2 - 3 hours.

Scramble and Gorge Scramble.
Cat Gill, Derwent Water, nr. Keswick, Cumbria.
A good introduction to gorge scrambling, being of an easy but interesting nature. Climbs some 200m up Cat Gill. Parking

      Coniston area, Cumbria.
Two gorge scrambles and five scrambles around Coniston Fells. These are grade 1 or grade 2 scrambles, and some can be linked up into a days outing. Parking, accomodation and toilets in Coniston.

Orienteering Course
Coed-y-Brenin Forest Park, Snowdonia.
Three orienteering courses, easy (2k), moderate (2.6k) and a course for experienced orienteers (4.4k). Starts close to the mountain biking car park, and orienteering maps are available free at the visitor center. A great way to explore the forest.

      Backpacking Walk
Rhinogs range, Snowdonia
Starting from the same car park as the above orienteering course, this two night walk and camp makes a great weekend route. It is an easy trek and ideal for a first backpacking adventure. Some of the best wilderness walking in Britain, climbing Rhinog Fawr at 720m.
