Plank's
Gear.
This page is to let you know what
gear I am using at this time. As I get anything new, (which happens a lot, down
to a bad case of G.A.S,(Gear Acquisition Syndrome)), I'll add it to the site. I
will try to put some photos on this page of my gear as well. As for my patches
for any of this stuff, it will go on the 'DOWNLOADS' page. That is if I can ever
work out how to get it on to this web site that is!.

Plank's Roland
Trip.
Boss GT-5.
At this time this is
the most used multi fx unit I've ever had. To say that it's the best is just my
opinion.Over the years I've used every other unit out there. I'm also putting
single stomp boxes in that list as well as the GT-5 can be used just like single
stompers as well. From early Boss ME-5's to Zoom's, Dod's, Digitech and Korg's,
for me there is only one make worth getting and that's Roland/Boss. From the
first OD-1 and CE-1 I got back in the early 80's I found my sound and have
always gone back to Roland/Boss gear time after time. Not once has any Boss gear
let me down, live or in the studio. The GT-5 is just out of this world for
guitar, any sound you can think of, you can get with just a little forward
thinking.
Roland VG-8ex.
The VG is something
very, very special. It is like nothing you have ever heard/played before in your
life. Just think of having lots of different guitars and old tube amps in one
room. Each guitar can have any type of pick-up on it, mix pu's, place them at
any point on the body or/and neck. Any tuning you like inc.12 string, then tune
that any way you like. What amp would you like to use?. Then which speakers and
mic, where would you put the mic?. What fx do you want to add?. Comp., Wah,
OD/Dist, Delay, Rev., Phase/Chorus?, the list goes on and on. How about a 12
string Les Paul with 3 active single coils in open G tuning, with a capo on the
3rd fret, with Comp. into a Peavey 5150, into a 1x12 clsd. back cab with a
phaser, delay and reverb?. All at the touch of a button. Then something even
more strange or a classic Strat to a Fender BassMan on the next button. Totally
out of this world.
Roland GR-30.
This is great at a
live gig. If you have no keyboard player it's even better. Ever had that 'Not
another guitar solo' feeling?. Think that a Sax would sound better?, done one
solo in this song already?, then a guitar synth is for you. Time for your solo
spot while they all walk off stage. Guitar synth on, amp/pedal dist on, delay
on, play a chord, press the hold pedal and solo away over the top. Use sounds
like rock organ to fill out songs that rock, play piano in the slow ones, play a
solo just once with a sax sound and watch everybody in the hall look for the sax
player. It's great fun, and you can put proper sounding and feeling guitar and
bass parts into a computer, and like a keyboard player. Ever got your keyboard
player to use a Gtr.sound and make it sound like its being strummed?. Think
about it!!!.
Boss AD-5.
This is used for Acu.Guitar. It a great preamp/fx
unit. As well as all the standard preamp stuff it's also got one of the best
choruses for Acu. I've ever heard. And the Mic. sim for distance, and a control
for body depth and a great reverb.XLR outs and more.
Line-6 POD.
Not had this too long,
but I like it. It's just had the new V.2 upgrade added. I got it for home use,
instead of unpacking everything if I'm going in and out for days on end. It's
good for going direct to a multitrack or headphones, not used it live yet, with
all the other gear, probably never will!.
Amps.
Not as such. It's a 8-2 mixer as the
preamp(sort of), to a Marshall VS 8008 power amp to 2 Marshall 1936 2x12 cabs(or
just one for smaller gigs). The output from the mixer is split into two stereo
pairs, one pair to the poweramp, and the other to the house desk/PA.
Roland JV-90ex.
Very
good synth, but getting old now. Has the same engine as the JV-1000 but no
sequencer. More keys and sounds than the JV-80/880, so it sit's between the two.
I have the JV-1 board fitted which turns it into TWO JV-90's in one unit. Also
fitted the Vint.Synth board.(SR-JV-04).
Roland A-70ex.
This is not a synth as we all know them. It's a MIDI
controller, although it's had the piano board fitted. With it's 4 midi outs,
it's used to control the JV-1 board and the Korg O5R/W. If I need more sounds
then it can use the GR-30's synth engine via midi.
Korg O5R/W.
Got it cheap. It's great for organ sounds with the
two built in fx units. One set to overdrive and the other for the Leslie fx.
