In the first part of the '90's the A-50 was the unit I wanted. But it's one drawback to me was the fact that I could not use the JV-1 board in my JV-90ex with an A-50.

The reson is that the A-50 did not send out 'Bank Change messages', which is a shame, as that was the only thing stopping me from get the A-50.

I realy like the A-50, but had to settel for a A-30.

I'm not knocking the A-50, no way would I, it's just that if it came out a little later.....CC-0 and CC-32 may have been part of it's spec.

I asked Roland on a number of time for a software up-date, but it never appered.

Roland has designed the A-50 professional keyboard controller to be the ultimate for advanced MIDI systems.

The A-50 sends channel aftertouch and polyphonic aftertouch (per key), and comes equipped with a Roland bend lever and Moog-type wheels.

Although it produces no sound in itself, this instrument offers more controls for adjusting the personalized nuance parameters of the sound modules in your MIDI system than any other keyboard on the market.

Up to four MIDI channels can be layered simultaneously and each can have its own key range (zone), aftertouch sensitivity, velocity curve, minimum velocity, maximum velocity, aftertouch curve, and program change.

There's more! Four sliders, four finger switches, and four foot switches can each be assigned to any MIDI control function, up to four times -- one per each keyboard zone.

Sixty-four patch memories allow instant recall of all your system configurations, plus there's a large state-of-the-art LCD that makes operating your system completely visual.

If you already own another MIDI keyboard, it won't be wasted. The A-50 provides a remote MIDI In jack which enables you to configure your existing keyboard in the same manner as you would the controller.
