The A-30 Master Keyboard simplifies the use of a GS sound module or computer sound card. Designed specifically for GS sound sources, the A-30 has dedicated switches for the simplest possible operation when sending commands directly to a GS Format sound source.
In most respects the A-30 and the A-33
are one and the same unit. With just a few differances between them.
Having owned an A-30, as the A-50 I had always wanted, would not send
out Bank Change messages as part of a patch. It would not be of full use with
the JV-1 board in my JV-90ex.
As I said the '30' and the '33' one and
the same, apart from the out- side colour, and the 2 MIDI OUTs on the '33'.
When the 'A-33' came out I was a little upset that it was not the
smaller 'A-90 or an updated A-50', that I had been asking Roland UK, and Roland
R+D in Japan for years.
But still it was a 'NEW A-Series Controller',
with '2 MIDI OUTS'. Now that is more that the A-30, so of I went when my local
shop called to tell be the first one had arrived.
"No!, do not get it
out of the box", I cryed, "Just give me the manual".
After 2 mins. with
that manual I was NOT happy at all, the two midi outs were not separet, they
copy each other. Now that may be OK for some people, but to me there was no
point in replaceing the A-30.
Again I would have to wait for Roland
R+D,Hamamatsu,Japan, to answer my prayers.
