Jon Congdon
was Killerwhales top performer at this tough Level 1 Gala held
at the International Sports Centre at Ponds Forge in Sheffield.
Swimming in the 14/15 years age group he claimed silvers in both
the 100 and 200 metre freestyle events and took 5th
place in the open age group 400 metre event.
16 year old
Dean Smith, competing in the Open Age category hit a top six
placing in no less than 6 of his 8 swims over this weekend’s
events, his best placing being 4th in both 50 and 100
fly swims.
Lewis
Clifford-Stephenson continued to show excellent form in his
favoured breaststroke event and at age 14 excelled in the 100
Breastroke where he bettered his 7th place in the
heats to finish half a second and two places further up the
ranking in a hard swum final. Earlier Lewis had finished as the
second highest placed 14 year old in the 50 metre Breastroke
Open event.
With no less
than 9 swims over the weekend hard working Katinka Merchan
reached the final of the 14/15 year old 100 metre backstroke and
produced a new personal best to finish 5th with a
determined swim whilst Henny Andrews finished 6th in
the 200 Breastroke in the Open Age Group category.
For the
younger swimmers 11 year olds Molly Sparks and Danielle Rooke
battled well all weekend with Molly claiming a top ten finish in
the 200 metre Backstroke achieving a London District qualifying
time as did Alex Merchan swimming in his first 50 metre gala.
