KILLERWHALES AT CITY OF DERBY

Jon Congdon was Killerwhales top performer at this tough Level 1 Gala held at the International Sports Centre at Ponds Forge in Sheffield. Swimming in the 14/15 years age group he claimed silvers in both the 100 and 200 metre freestyle events and took 5th place in the open age group 400 metre event.

16 year old Dean Smith, competing in the Open Age category hit a top six placing in no less than 6 of his 8 swims over this weekend’s events, his best placing being 4th in both 50 and 100 fly swims.

Lewis Clifford-Stephenson continued to show excellent form in his favoured breaststroke event and at age 14 excelled in the 100 Breastroke where he bettered his 7th place in the heats to finish half a second and two places further up the ranking in a hard swum final. Earlier Lewis had finished as the second highest placed 14 year old in the 50 metre Breastroke Open event.

With no less than 9 swims over the weekend hard working Katinka Merchan  reached the final of the 14/15 year old 100 metre backstroke and produced a new personal best to finish 5th with a determined  swim whilst Henny Andrews finished 6th in the 200 Breastroke in the Open Age Group category.

For the younger swimmers 11 year olds Molly Sparks and Danielle Rooke battled well all weekend with Molly claiming a top ten finish in the 200 metre Backstroke achieving a London District qualifying time as did Alex Merchan swimming in his first 50 metre gala.
