WHALES SPARKLE AT STEVENAGE
A TREMENDOUS EFFORT BY KILLERWHALES SAW THEM TAKE 165 MEDALS AT STEVENAGE SC WEEKEND GALA

On a wet and windy weekend Killerwhales made their own sunshine with some sparkling performances which resulted in 165 medals and some 200 + personal best performances.

Taking honours in the medal count was Robyn Beadel in the 15 years age group who grabbed 4 Golds, in the 100m and 50m backstroke, 100m medley and the 100m freestyle, silver in the 50m butterfly and two bronze medals in the 100m breaststroke and 50m free.

Jodie Momodu also took four golds in the 50m and 100m breaststroke and 100m medley and 100m butterfly, silver in the 50m butterfly and bronze in the 100m backstroke. Never out of the medals she took 4th in the 100m free and 5th in both the 50m free and 50m back.

James Croxon took medals in each of his 16 year group races with a brace of golds in the 50m and 100m backstroke, silver medals were claimed in the 100m medley and 100m fly, bronze medals for the 50m and 100m breaststroke and 50m free, with a 4th  place in the 100m free and 5th place in the 50m fly.

Another 16 year boy Adam Conway had much to cheer about, he was never outside the top 4 taking gold in the 50m and 100m breaststroke, silver in the 50m and 100m freestyle, bronze in the 100m medley and 4th place in the 50m and 100m butterfly and 50m and 100m backstrokes events. However arguably the biggest smile was for his 100m freestyle performance where he dipped below the 60 second mark for the first time.

Dan Bleach in the 15 boys claimed nine medals and was never outside the top 3. Gold was taken in the 50m butterfly, he took 4 silver medals in the 100m fly, 50m and 100m backstroke, and 100m medley. His four bronze medals came in the 50m and 100m breaststroke and the 50m and 100m freestyle.

Katinka Merchan in the 14 years age group took a pair of gold medals in the 50m and 100m backstroke, she took bronze in the 100m medley and 4th in the 100m fly, a pair of 5th place medals in the 100m breaststroke and 100m free were followed with 6th place in the 50m breaststroke.

Sean Houlihan proved what talent he has in the boys 11year section taking gold in both the 50m and 100m breaststroke. 4th in the 50m back was followed with 5th in the 100m medley and 100m backstroke.

Julia Braybrooke 17 years section took a pair of golds in the 50m and 100m backstroke, silver in the 50m fly and bronze in the 100m breast. 5th places were achieved in the 50m and 100m freestyle and 50m breast.

New Killerwhales swimmer Holly Jackson, 13 years age group, was in good form, she took a gold medal in the 50m breast,  silver medals in the 100m breast and 50m & 100m butterfly. Holly also took two bronze medals in the 50m free and 100m medley, a fourth place in the 100m free.

Henny Andrews won gold in the 16 years 50m butterfly, silver in the 50m and 100m free and 100m medley. She also took bronze in the 100m breaststroke and 50m back.

Ellen Scott said goodbye to Killerwhales with a gold in the 15 yr 100m breaststroke, she also claimed bronze in the 50m fly, and finished 4th in the 50m free and 6th in the 100m back.

Tom Webb in the 12 yr boys age group took 4 silver medals in the 50m & 100m freestyle, 100m breaststroke and 100m medley, he also took 4 bronze medals in the 50m & 100m butterfly, 50m breast and 50m back, his only finish outside the top three was 5th in the 100m back.

Kalei Andrews swam well all weekend taking 3 silver medals in the 15 yr 100m fly, 100m medley and the 100m free, she took two bronze medals in the 50m & 100m backstroke, 4th place in the 50m fly and 50m breast, two fifth places in the 100m breast and 50m free.

Georgia Shaw in the 13 years age group took silver in the 50m free, bronze in the 100m back and 100m free, and had 4th place finishes in the 50m & 100m fly, 100m breast, 100m medley and 50m back. Georgia she also finished 5th place in the 50m breast.

Katie Miles carrying an ankle injury still managed a silver medal in the 14years 100m free, and finished 4th in the 100m breast and 5th in the 50m breast, 50m fly and 100m medley.

Alice Scott claimed two silvers in the 17+ years 100m breast and 100m backstroke, she also took 4th in the 50m fly and sixth place in the 50m & 100m free.

Rachel Green was well in the medals and never finishing outside the top eight places taking bronze in the 15 years 100m fly, 4th in the 50m back, 5th in the 50m fly, 100m back and 100m medley and 6th in the 50m breast.

Molly Scott weighed in with a tremendous performance in the 12 years 100m breast taking the silver medal. Claire Wilson 14 years took a well earned bronze with a good performance in the 50m breaststroke. Daniel Rooke competing in the 10 years age group also won bonze in her 100m backstroke with a 5th place in her 50m back and 100m freestyle.

Susannah Haynes landed six medals in the 16 years age group with four 4th places in the 50m and 100m fly, 100m free and 50m backstroke. She also took 5th in the 100m backstroke and 50m freestyle. Another 16 year old swimmer with 6 medals was Ellena Wheatley who took home four 5th  place medals in the 50m & 100m fly, 50m free and 50m back. She added two 5th places with the 100m breast and 100m back.

David Haynes in the 17+ age group had three 4th places in the 50m & 100m back and 50m fly. He also took 5th in the 100m fly. Charlie Wood in the boys 14 years age group grabbed three 5th places in the 100m fly, 100m free and 50m back, he also finished in 6th in the 100m back.

Katherine Walsh swam well in her 16 year age group claiming 4th place in the 50m breast, she took 5th in the 100m breast and 100m free and 6th in the 50m fly. Young Molly Sparks in the 10 years section took 4th in the 50m free, 5th 100m breast, and 6th in the 50m fly and 100m free.

Newcomer Scott Jackson looked impressive on his way to two fine 5th places in the 15 years 50m & 100m breaststrokes, he took 6th place in the 100m backstroke and 100m butterfly. Another newcomer young Daniel Laffey made up for the disappointment of missing races due to the bad traffic by taking 6th in the 11 year 100m breaststroke.

Heather Wilson in the girls 12 year age group had three 6th places in the 50m & 100m backstroke and 50m fly. Two of the biggest smiles were worn by Victoria Beaumont and Josie Larkin who took 5th in the 15 years 50m breast and 6th place in the 14 years 50m freestyle respectively.
