KILLERWHALES ARE "TOP CLUB"
The Killerwhales went hunting silverware at Cheshunt SC's 2005 Open and return with a host of medals including 'Top Visiting Club' Trophy
.

Killerwhales Swim Club of Havering went to the impressive sports complex ‘The Venue’ in Borehamwood to participate in Cheshunt Swimming Club’s 2005 Open meet. The clubs swimmers were in fine form taking quite a number of medals whilst also setting many new personal best times and winning the coveted “Best Visiting Club” cup which is award to the club accumulating the most points (6 points for winning, 5 points for 2nd down to 1 point for 6th place).

Sharing the honours for best points earners were two very impressive 14 year olds Lauren Rouffe and Dean Smith who each won 4 gold medals and 1 silver in each of their 5 races. Lauren’s 4 gold’s were in the 100m freestyle, 100m butterfly , 100m backstroke and 100m Individual Medley. Dean’s wins were in the 100m butterfly, 100m backstroke, 100m breaststroke and 100m individual medley with silver earned in the 100m freestyle.

Kirsty Forbes swimming in the 15 plus age group was another recipient of four gold’s in the free, fly, back and medley, a bronze came in the breaststroke.

Johnny Congdon had a fine gala taking home a five medal haul with gold in the 100m breast, silver in both the 100m medley and free, bronze in the fly was followed with 5th in the backstroke.

16 year old boys captain, Dan Hime also made a five medals in the 15 and over age group, gold in the 100m medley was followed with silver in both the 100m breast and fly, bronze was in the backstroke and 6th in the 100m free.   

Lewis Clifford-Stephenson managed 4 medals from his efforts in the 100m breast (gold), 100m fly and medley (both silver) and the 100m free (bronze).

11 yr old Jodie Momodu had a gold medal performance in the 50m breaststroke, she went on to earn silver medals in both the 50m fly and 100m medley and 4th place in the freestyle. Another 11 year old Tom Webb had a fine gala he managed a bronze medal in the 100m IM, 4th in the 50 breaststroke and 5th in the 50m free, fly and backstroke.

Team-mates Katinka Merchan and Kalei Andrews had a great competition and both took medals in their 13 year old events. Kalei finished just behind Katinka in the 100m fly where they won silver and bronze respectively, Katinka silver in the backstroke was followed with Kalei’s 5th place. Kalei then took bronze in the medley where Katinka finished 5th. Kalei also took another 5th place in the freestyle.

14 year old Ellen Scott and Robyn Beadel swapped honours in the backstroke and breaststroke, Robyn took the bronze in the back and Ellen 6th whilst Ellen took the bronze and Robyn 6th in the breast. Ellen also took a 4th and 5th in the fly and medley events.

14 year old boys Daniel Bleach and Tom Bircham was in the medals too Tom’s silver in the breaststroke was followed with 5th in the back where Dan took 4th, Dan also took a bronze in the fly with 6th in the breast.

13 year old Lee Parker had a good meet 5th in the fly was followed with sixth in the freestyle and medley and just outside the medals in the other races.

Laura Andrews in the 15 plus age group took 4th in the fly and 6th in the free where 12 year old Georgia Shaw finished in 4th. Molly Scott took 4th in the 11 year old 50m breaststroke as did youngster Annabelle Jolly in the 9years section.

A fine days swimming was capped when Captains Dan Hime and Laura Andrews lifted the Top Visiting Club Trophy.
