| The Arsenal of Freedom |
| The Enterprise arrives at the planet Minos to investigate the disappearance of the USS Drake. While scans find the planet to be devoid of people, the crew receive an automated sales pitch preaching the virtues of the advanced weapons systems which they can buy there. |
| A small away team beams down and is approached by the supposed captain of the Drake, but when they quickly determine that it is just a projection, it converts into a hovering armed drone which promptly envelops Riker in a stasis shield. |
| When Data has to resort to a risky procedure to break the shield with modified phaser fire, Picard beams down with Dr Crusher, but the two of them fall into a cavern when they run to take cover from more drones. |
| Under increasing fire from a cloaked vessel, La Forge is forced to take the Enterprise away. He separates off its saucer section before a dangerous return for the stranded away team. |
 |
The doctor is badly injured. |
| Without a med-kit and with their communicators useless, Jean-Luc has to look after Beverly. "This is going to hurt a little". |
 |
"I've heard that before". |
| The captain takes advice from Beverly on how to care for his patient as she fights to stay awake. "Elevate the legs and try to keep her warm. You didn't happen to bring a blanket with you, did you ?" |
 |
No blanket. |
| Jean-Luc presses Beverly to keep talking. Concerning the root juice applied to stop bleeding from Beverly's lacerated leg, she tells that it was her grandmother who learnt all about roots and herbs and taught it to Beverly as a child. Jean-Luc continues "There must be a lot of things about you I don't know". |
 |
"Quite a few." |
| As the captain hunts round the cave he discovers the weapons system which attracted them in the first place. Its alluring salesman eloquently describes its demonstration of increasingly intelligent drones intent on killing the away team. Picard realises that it is this ongoing sales show-case which killed the population of Minos. |
| With the latest drones moving in on the resigned away team, Beverly makes a reasonable suggestion. |
 |
"Why don't you just shut it off ?" |
| Picard promptly agrees to buy the machine from the gratified salesman who then switches off the drones "demonstration", saving the away team. |
| The star drive section of the Enterprise returns to lure the cloaked vessel into the Minos atmosphere where it is briefly allowed to show up as air turbulence before "James T" La Forge blasts it out of the sky from the battle bridge. When the captain and away team are transported back, the delighted Geordi is ordered to continue command until he has returned the Enterprise back in one piece. |
