| The Enterprise responds to a distress call from Dr Manheim whose experiments with time seem to be having repercussions throughout nearby space. Before they arrive, Jean-Luc visits the holodeck to recreate a situation where this time he does turn up for a rendezous with Jenice (to be) Manheim who he is fearfully in love with. |
When they arrive at Dr Manheim’s experimental site they beam the ailing physicist and his wife Jenice on board.
Deanna visits Dr Crusher in sick-bay. |

| Deanna | I wanted to see how he was doing. |
| Beverly | The same. Nothing I do seems to make any difference. That’s not why you’re here. |
| Deanna | I though I was the telepath ! |

| Deanna | Are you alright ? |
| Beverly | Why wouldn’t I be ? I've got one of the medical wonders of the galaxy dying in my sick-bay. |
