What the hell is this page ?

I got bullied (only joking) into making this page by Staz, who wrote me, liking the site, but more or less demanding some personal info for whatever reason. Being objective, I of course declined as naturally all of this page is completely irrelevant to a Beverly site, but I was told and I quote "it makes the site more personal - you understand what you see better when you understand who's behind it. Besides, people want recognition! human nature...". So there.
Who am I ?
My real name is Bob Selwood, not Katie Elle. I am from Manchester in England UK. As I am 40 years old and single, have a cat called Archie and a Star Trek web site, there are those would might guess me as sad. But what they don't know is that I have a routine desk job to complete the picture. I am truly one sad bastard, not to mention unshaven.
To prevent getting anything toooo useful done in my own time, my main hobby is getting drunk. As both a reprobate and a member of our local CAMRA branch, I can achieve my main goal with at least some kind of excuse. As a special treat, I sometimes fall asleep on the last trains back, and then walk back hurm to Aldershot. Long distance treks in the twinkly hours have been from Bagshot, Bentley and Guildford. Better still is being basically stranded and sleeping rough, which has been Putney Heath, Willesden (I think) and somewhere else which I won't mention as that might start to compromise my dignity. Good overnight sleeps have been had in the waiting lounges of Gatwick Airport, which are always warm, even in the winter. Nice.
Why did I make this site ?
Being a bit of a home alone type of guy, I gradually realised that I was watching Star Trek TNG each week, hoping there would be some good Beverly bits. That being a rare occasion, I asked those who had access to this new internet thingy about Star Trek sites, and discretely suggested that there might even be some sites specifically about Beverly. Yeah, as if. To our surprise we found The Gates McFadden Photo Gallery. Now that's what I call the correct use of the internet, I decided. So then I got myself on the internet and discovered no shortage of Beverly and Gates information at Jennifer Moore's site. Although obviously not in any kind of position to compete with such top sites, I decided that I could provide a different if uninspired approach and do my review of Bev-max episodes with all the photos corresponding precisely to the actual points in the stories. So for example, when Beverly says "You've controlled me by fear !" in the High Ground, the accompanying photo is from exactly when she says that in the episode. The same applies for every single photo, except one in Suspicions (su_corridor is from slightly earlier on the way to the lab, just before Riker has a friendly word in her ear).
How did I make this site ?
I bought a little paperback book which taught me the HTML basics. Then I summarised the episodes by trimming out all unBeverly bits possible such that you still get the story, and leaving in as much Beverly as reasonable. Easy but a lot of work was the keying in all the words and details. |
I took all the photos off my old TV with the video on freeze frame. Then I made a note of what the photo is of, call it something, and log its place in the web page in progress. When roll of film is full, take it down the photo developing shop. To reduce the embarrassment factor, I used various different shops. Collect photos next weekend and work out which is which. Get them scanned in exchange for giving lifts into work.
I had a few magazines, but what made them more worthwhile was ordering the back-issues. Then in the back issues you discover other old stuff.
