This cd has been available in many guises over the last few years, but this is the first official release and it has been digitally remastered along with informative sleeve notes and great photo's. ( its also very cheap!!)
It was recorded live at the "Paradiso" in Amsterdam on the 29/3/69 and features the trio of Wyatt, Hopper and Ratledge prior to the recruitment of Elton Dean. The set is basically most of Volume 2 which at that time had just been recorded but not yet released (September 1969 / Probe spb 1002).
A fantastic document of the live Soft
Machine at that time, a period of which very few live recordings
exist
( those that do, suffer from dreadful sound quality, this doesn't
) and the last trio line up ever.
Wrong Movements, the
Robert Wyatt history says this:
It was recorded by Captain
Haddock for consideration towards release of a live album. The
group declines consent and were later met with betrayal when the
bootleg album "Soft Machine 69" appeared ( Priscilla
Records P.R.L.P 4505, edition of 100). The master reel appeared
again in 1989 on the German bootleg cd "Turns On".
