PHROQ
Phroq is Meirino Francisco from
Switzerland, a new exciting artist for Electronic Musik, who
combines electro-acoustic music with pue electronics and noise.
Below is an extract from a short biography he sent to us.
SHORT BIOGRAPHY
I started my noise music project phroq in
early 1994, and at first was influenced by lo-fi and noise rock
bands such as pavement / sonic youth and industrial music eg:
einsturzende neubauten / swans.
In 1995 I started listening to Japanoise band C.C.C.C and Merzbow's
album "Venerology" and I found a new world of very
powerful, sensitive music.
I started buying "Pure" record releases and turned my original line up from lo-fi noise/industrial to pedals effects and metal loops and phroq become a harsh noise project.
The same year I started live performances the audience was very exited by my noise music and some people asked me to give them tapes..so I started releasing tapes.
In 1997-98 I started listening more electro-acoustic
material, which, whilst I found the sound treatments facinating,
thought the music was not as powerful as harsh noise.
A Swiss label ask me to release my first LP "Neko" so I
decided to mix electro-acoustic music with noise and the result
was so great that I decided to continue in this way.
In 1998 I met the Noise master Masami Akita
(merzbow) and Zbigniew Karkowski (hafler trio-sensorband)and we
became friends.
I performed an opening performance for their project Mazk and
opened for Karkowski in solo.
In 2001 I went toTokyo and played live at the legendary Studio 80.
