(recording studios)

Owned and operated by Maurice Mulligan who has seen, over the past thirty years, a great experience of professional experience in the field of audio production and engineering. This experience along with contacts in the business enables BrickBeat to offer expert advice and services in recording studio and live sound along with tour / production management if required.

Over the years Maurice has worked in many studios in the UK and abroad and has also spent a large amount of time touring with many household names including Phil Lynott, Queen, Stiff Little Fingers, plus Herbie Hancock, Nina Simone and Midge Ure.

Work is currently underway at the studios includes sessions with local musician Dale Hagger's new project Big Bad Carbon. Local 'Indie' rock band Hyper Sniper are also booked in during November to start work on their new EP, while Maurice is also involved in developing an Audio Book project with actor Philip Mead from Rhubarb Theatre.

From the technical perspective the main studio operating system is built around a mixture of traditional analogue and modern digital technology. This includes a 2" (24 track) Soundcraft 760 Multitrack Recorder running alongside a Logic Pro solution on an Apple MAC platform. Complimenting the 760 machine is a matching Soundcraft 800B - 32 Channel audio mixing console.

If you are involved in film production and need to re-locate to another site to develop your audio recordings and mixing of your project we can also accommodate you. Using our pre and post-production software including Final Cut Pro and Soundtrack Pro you will be able to compose and mix your audio soundtracks in a properly controlled studio environment.

Media Arts & Educational Projects

As well as providing an audio recording and production service BrickBeat also specialise in development workshops and projects. Past projects have included work with Local Authority and County Arts Agencies on a range of projects from Youth Arts film production sessions, to spoken word projects along with training packages in Interactive Media. These projects can be designed either take place at our own studio or even recorded remotely at a site of your own choice.

Owner Maurice Mulligan said, "With our work across the East Midlands in Youth Arts and Music Development BrickBeat hold up to date CRB checks and work regularly with many Local Authorities, Colleges and Schools". Working in partnership with independent facilitators, independent agencies plus Local Authorities and arts organisations, we can design, deliver and manage high quality multi-arts projects for all ages, groups and situations".

"I welcome the opening of this unique independent recording facility right in the heart of Lincoln's Cultural Quarter. I can see this is a fully equipped, well managed, professionally staffed studio and I wish Brickbeat every success for the future." Keith Luckey (Manager of The Terrace, Creative Industries Centre in Lincoln).

"This is a fantastic city centre recording facility, plus given Maurice's broad and rich experience in the field, will appeal not only to bands but educational establishments too. I hope that this studio becomes an established part of the cultural quarter of this city." Dave Mallett (Music Co-Ordinator, Lincoln College).

"BrickBeat gave my project professional sounding drums and vocals in line with my budget. Maurice understood the creative needs of the track and was very helpful." Dale Hagger (Big Bad Carbon).

"Brickbeat provides professional artists, such as ourselves at the Rhubarb Theatre Company, with a state-of-the-art recording facility right here in Lincoln. As a theatre company, it is critical that we are creatively versatile in all our work including offering 'voice-over' services. Accordingly, Maurice has designed and managed the studio in such a way to compliments the diverse range of work, artists such as ourselves create. That studio versatility is as important as its locality and accessibility, both of which Brickbeat enjoys." Philip Mead (Rhubarb Theatre).
