Stacey Kent and Jim Tomlinson experienced success with their album 'The Lyric' which featured prominently in the charts around the world. Time Out described the album as 'timeless, artful and utterly gorgeous.' Jim Tomlinson's 'The Lyric featuring Stacey Kent' was voted best album at the 2006 BBC Jazz Awards

Their 2006 appearance at Birdland in New York prompted New York Times critic, Stephen Holden, to observe, "What raises it all to another level is the intensely romantic connection between the singer and her tenor saxophonist and husband, Jim Tomlinson. As he curls his horn around her voice, their entranced rapport and mutual adoration conjure memories of Holiday and Lester Young and of Astrud Gilberto and Stan Getz. Love is in the air."

Recently signed to the prestigious Blue Note Record label, Stacey has received high praise from jazz aficionados and reviewers alike.

"Kent takes beautiful standards and gently unfurls their lyrics; and the supremely empathetic understanding she shares with (husband) Tomlinson recalls the sublime beauty of Billie Holiday's recordings with Lester Young. Timeless, artful and utterly gorgeous."
