Nik's response was to approach rock guitarist Sean 'Evil' Kineavy and along with Andy Raddings on the Djembe, Keith Wilce's on bass and former Hoax drummer Mark Barrett's laid back rhythm and blues drumming, Scotch Chocolate were formed.

Starting with 'Everyone's a Winner' and 'You Sexy Thing' they jammed and found their sound 51; a unique blend of 70's disco with hard edge rock guitar, funky bass lines and that celtic twist 51; Nik mercilessly bending the notes on his Scottish bagpipes or highland war pipes.

This blend of musicians, all from different musical backgrounds, gives Scotch Chocolate its unique sound and their live performances are pure, raw, vibrant and raucous energy. The audience cannot help but get caught up in it. Their non conformist approach to music will often lead to a spontaneous performance from Nick, described as "a multi-talented man mountain of a musician" (BBC Music Live). He launches into a thoroughly enjoyable comedy routine peppered with the occasional Rabbie Burns poem thrown in for good measure and delivered in Nik's inimitable style; loud and fast!

Scotch Chocolate are truly TOTAL ENTERTAINMENT; Kids love them, adults are sometimes bewildered by them; YOU cannot afford to miss them!

From the United States' Jersey shores, 1976 bred a new music - classic rock'n'roll, sizzling R&B: Stax meets Phil Spector. The Asbury Park sound was born right here. Out of New Jersey came Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band and Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes. Don't miss Southside Johnny with the Asbury Jukes on this rare visit to the UK (first Nottingham show for 10 years!). THIS IS SOUTHSIDE'S ONLY EAST MIDLANDS SHOW.Southside Johnny makes a rare visit to Nottingham when he plays Rock City on October 21; this is his first visit to the venue since the 80's. Following four sold-out UK shows in May of this year, prior to opening the show on Bon Jovi's stadium tour of Europe, Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes return to Britain for 10 shows in October. "The Asbury Jukes became known as the USA's best bar band, a label Southside proudly wears. 'We made ourselves a reputation as a great band to see' he said. 'Maybe that's because I've always associated music with having a good time" (The New York Times, June 18th 2000). Southside Johnny and his legendary band first came to prominence in the mid-Seventies when his former band-mate Bruce Springsteen hit the big time, causing the New Jersey shore music scene to be 'discovered' - after which both Southside and E Street guitarist "Miami" Steve Van Zandt landed record deals. Van Zandt in fact produced the first three Southside albums 51; while buddy Bruce Springsteen contributed signature songs like "The Fever", "Hearts Of Stone" and "Talk To Me". Following release of Southside's first two albums in the U.K., he and the Asbury Jukes made their first trip to England in 1977 on tour with Graham Parker & The Rumour. Anybody who witnessed the brilliance of those shows knew that they had seen two huge talents in the making.Since then, Southside has racked up 25 years of classic live shows and a total of 16 albums. His "Hearts Of Stone" release was lauded by Rolling Stone magazine as "one of the top albums of the 70's and 80's". Incessant touring in Europe, Scandinavia, Japan and the U.S.A. ensured that what had been a regional buzz became a die-hard International fan base. Those who were fortunate enough to catch Southside's shows in May will be queuing up to buy tickets for the successful return tour. Another musician to rejoin the band in the late 90's was John Ford, renowned for his dynamic bass work, & of course co-writing perhaps the band's best known song (to the layman!) 'Part Of The Union'. John now lives in America, touring as both a solo artist, as a duo & with bands. Alongside John, Richard Hudson on drums & percussion lays down the vibrant rhythms to The Strawbs evocative melodies. The band's powerful & distinctive sound is enhanced by the guitar work of Brian Willoughby who originally joined the band in 1979, & together with Dave Lambert forms a potent double lead guitar sound. Another important aspect of The Strawbs work is the keyboard work of Blue Weaver, who had the difficult task of filling the gap left when Rick Wakeman left the band to join Yes. Blue left following the 1973 split, but returned to the fold in 1983 when the band appeared at the Cambridge Festival. Since then Blue has toured whenever possible with the band. Unfortunately he had to drop out half way through the 2000 tour, his place being filled by none other than Rick's son, Adam Wakeman! (Round & Round we go!). The 2000 tour found the band re-introducing some different songs back into their set, their live performances continue to be memorable affairs, & their loyal fanbase shows no signs of letting the band drift off to an early retirement (fortunately!) - For the latest news about the band & tour details check out the excellent StrawbsWeb.

Our intention is to become well-known on the national pub and club circuit by entertaining our audiences with covers, but our secret weapon is Nathan's stash of original material which we will be gradually introducing. Our story so far includes many gigs in Scunthorpe, Lincoln, and even as far afield as Cambridge. Most recently we were asked to stand in for a band that couldn't make it to the opening heat at the Lincoln Battle Of The Bands (held at Jumping Jak's). We won the heat and then went on to storm the rest of the competition, emerging as winners at the finals held on Wednesday 18th September. Bookings can be made by contacting Jim on 07887 755179.

They have released over 10 albums in about as many years - most recently the excellent album produced by Buddy Miller "Audible Sigh" (Compass Records). What the press & other musicians have said!

"The poetry and intelligence of Bill Mallonee's songs rivals Dylan's and the spirituality and inspiration of them is like the timeless hymns. He is one of our all time favorite artists." (Buddy Miller [singer/songwriter, guitarist for Steve Earle, and Emmylou Harris] and Julie Miller)

"The band have caused an enormous stir on my radio program. 'Audible Sigh' is the reason why. Music from reality... Bill Mallonee is a true trooper." (Bob Harris, BBC Radio 2)

"Topped by the wayward melancholy of Bill Mallonee's vocals and his "last confession" style of songwriting, the band has created a classic slice of Americana." (London Times)

"Bill Mallonee and VOL have remained fascinated with the shadowy emotional toils and struggles inherent in the American experience. Compelling, insightful, this group continues to probe through Americana rock and roll proving that sometimes the only story worth telling is that of the journey." (Rolling Stone)

"Dylan-tinged vocal and introspective lyrics that spin out big-picture stories imbued with chilling small details." (Billboard)

"it doesn't matter where the music biz apparatus puts this band: They'll shatter the commercial shackles placed on it. Mallonee and VOL insist on carrying their message by the simplest and most immediate means possible: rock and roll. And it's delivered with passion, depth and integrity -an accomplishment worth celebrating." (Metro Times)

RICK WAKEMAN - (Updated Apr 2003) Rick takes his New English Rock Ensemble on a major British tour in Apr / May 2003. On the eve of the tour vocalist Damian Wilson pulled out of the tour for undisclosed reasons, with original singer with 70's ERE stepping in at the 11th hour. The NERE now features 3 of the 70's stars, in additon to Ashley and RW, drummer Tony Fendandez is in the line up which is completed by rocking guitarist Ant Glynne and Lee Pomrroy on bass. Works from Journey, Six Wives, White Rock, No Earthly Connection feature in the set, in addition to new material from Rick's latest album 'Out There' which continues and develops the theme of No Earthly Connection.

It doesn't seem nearly 25 years since Rick was playing to sell out audiences at venues such as Wembley's Empire Pool, where 10,000 gathered to watch 'King Arthur On Ice'. His last appearance in the county was in Grimsby, some 5 years ago he & his son Adam, who also plays keyboards, brought their dazzling keyboard skills to Skegness, though oddly few people turned up! Perhaps now Rick is seen on shows such as 'Countdown' & other family programmes, more people will witness one of Britain's finest keyboard players in action, & of course there will be some of the humour that Rick has become known for - as he says that's what pays the bills! Somehow it reflects the state of Britain's music scene that a musician such as Rick is more famous for his appearances on TV not playing, than for his music! For the musically inclined a show not to be missed, for the curious who want to see a TV star - come along - after you have seen him playing live, you'll wonder why he doesn't get to play the piano on TV more often! This is the first solo tour Rick has undertaken, his show includes some classic Wakeman pieces, featuring music from 'Six Wives' including 'Jane Seymour' (the first time the piece originally recorded live in a London Church, has been played 'live' modern technology 'translating' the notes played by Rick into the exact sounds of that church's organ!). There are also old favourites from 'Journey' & 'King Arthur', as well as new pieces & a spellbinding rendition of 'Eleanor Rigby' played in the style of Rick's favourite classical composer Prokofiev!
