The amp has a current PAT test and is complete with mains lead, Marshall footpedal for changing channels and a handbook. I have both jammed and gigged with this amp and it has served me well.

Lesley Curtis and her Band in concert

With support from local young musician Meg McPartlin

Lesley Curtis and her Band will be playing an original blend of folk country and bluesy rock when they appear at the South Holland Centre next week. The concert takes place on the eve of the final flower parade and will feature songs from Lesley's new album 'Naked' interspersed with familiar belters from the likes of Fleetwood Mac and Kirsty MacColl. The album's first single, "Before She Walked A Mile" is currently being played on radio stations worldwide. The band, based in the local area, consists of Lesley Curtis on vocals and guitar, Tony Harris on electric and acoustic guitars, Dave Smith on guitars and vocals, Paul Chapman on bass and vocals, Ian Tait on drums and percussion.

Curtis says "The past couple of years have seen many personal and professional transitions. I wrote music that dug deep into my heart and created an exciting mix which says everything about who I am, with no apology for the crossing of musical lines, just pure joy in its outcome; about it's Naked premise...."

Press Release - Lesley Curtis and her Band

The time is right, according to Lesley Curtis. Her new album, Naked" was released at the last part of 201270;and the album's first single, "Before She Walked A Mile" is now released to radio in the UK and abroad.

"We're VERY excited about this," says Lesley, who currently resides in Oundle, Lincolnshire. "We've recorded albums before and had some success, but this is the first time we're doing a release that goes around the world. We're working with former Peterborough resident Cameron Tilbury's company, MapleStar Music & Media in Nashville, Tennessee. He's a good friend and I'm so glad that we finally got the chance to work together."

"We worked hard on this album," smiles Miss Curtis. "The past couple of years have seen so many personal and professional transitions: a new relationship, a new band-and of course another birthday or two. I wanted to write music that really dug deep into my heart and soul. I wanted to go places inside myself and shine a light on who I truly am, and shine a light on my own honesty. Hence the title of the album: Naked."

"Naked" is the keenly-awaited follow up to her debut, "Shock Delayed." The songs are honest, real. The music an original blend of English folk, country, and bluesy rock-a very tasty slice of Americana.

Lesley Curtis has a lot to say on "Naked." "There are a lot of women out there who, like me, have reached a certain age. We have evolved to this 'place' where we are experiencing things we've never experienced before. Society thinks we should be something-and we're not. We're expected to have the answers, but instead, we have more questions. I wanted to give that 'angst" a voice. "

Lesley spent a number of years working in a variety of rock and pop bands touring Europe and the UK, including the challenging North East and Yorkshire club circuits.

She has worked as a sessions singer both in live and studio environments and has recorded for The Real World, Comstock Records, Martin Knott & the Old School Recording Studio, Rhythm Academy, Slick City Music Productions, Paradigm Productions, Simon Sumner, BBC local radio and BFBS radio amongst others.

Always driven to push herself further creatively, Lesley turned to song-writing. This focus really ignited a hitherto undiscovered skill and passion and she released her debut album "Shock Delayed" to critical acclaim.

Discovery Day - Grantham Canal Society

I know this is rather 11th hour, but here goes! Would anyone like to come along to our event on Sunday 7th October, and do some busking? We have plenty of space, either indoors or outdoors, or both - maybe sing a sea shanty on a boat trip even - we're flexible on the amount of time you could give.

We put these events on - entirely without funding. We rely purely on the goodwill and resourcefulness of our volunteers (we have no paid staff at any level) - so, sadly, we couldn't afford to pay anyone - other than free tea and cake! We would have no objection to a 'hat on the floor' collection, and some self promotion of course!

We've recently unearthed a song celebrating the opening of the Grantham Canal in 1797 - how exciting is that! One of our members is going to sing it on the day - at least he's taken it home to practice - it has a difficult penultimate line in each verse apparently - if I were to have to sing it, then every line would be difficult!

It really suits those who don't require power.

All proceeds from the event, will go towards the restoration of the Grantham Canal.

Roberts design defies acoustic standards, with its thru neck, and its bridge integral quality piezo pickup system matched with high end 4 band EQ, by rights it should not sound this good !

As the thru neck, which is allowed to freely vibrate, without solid mass to dampen tone and sustain, it rings sweet and pure... ~ Tones from jangly hot club, to warm full bodied sweet rich bliss.

Best used with acoustic strings which bring out thick mid depth. The pre amp system is very powerful and can be over used to add kick and presence.

These basses are no longer in production as the lutheran passed away, this bass is one of 50 made. Comes with Roberts case and strap. It is a unique guitar but does not fit into my style of playing, If I collected basses then it would hang on the wall gather dust and value but I'm a player and like to use my basses. These basses retailed at just under a £1000 when in production.

If you would be interested in helping to create this original production by singing, dancing, playing a character role, helping with costume, set, or technicalities please come to an open introduction/audition to the making of Ready Steady Pop at Spilsby Theatre on Wednesday 22nd August at 7.30pm

The event itself will take place for two nights in November (16th & 17) when Spilsby Theatre will be transformed into "Spilsby Television Centre" for what will be as much a party as a piece of theatre.

'Reliable' piano and general keyboard player needed.

Preferred age from 40 upwards preferred but experience and ability more important 51; the rest of us are all getting on a bit! You will need to be experienced, have a quick ear and be able to rehearse in Lincoln (free studio space in centre of town) and work towards learning a live set as quickly as possible.

There is a large set list already in place but have had a few problems with reliability over the last few months and are keen to get things running again as quickly as possible. Current line up includes; Vox, Sax/Horn/T.Bone, Drums & Bass/BVs, our music style has been mainly traditional R 'n B but we are now concentrating on injecting some new blood by working up a new gigging set (purely for money of course!) and concentrating on playing Chas n Dave 51; type covers.

Write a Song For Lincolnshire Competition 2012

"Write a Song for Lincolnshire" is designed to encourage the compositon of new songs that are relevant to our county. The choice of subject is entirely yours but the song must have a Lincolnshire background or a Lincolnshire feel.

To comply with the spirit of the event the song must be new and must not have appeared previously on commercially available recordings. The songs must be original both in lyrics and melody and be under four minutes long.

A panel of distinguished judges will listen to all the entries received and a short-list will be drawn up.

Ten songs will be selected to be performed live at a special finals night concert at Spilsby Theatre on Thursday October 18th 2012 where the judges will be present to make their final decision and select the winning song and two runners-up.

The ten songs short-listed will be recorded by BBC Radio Lincolnshire for broadcast.

If you can write a good song but don't feel able to perform in public you can get someone else to sing your song on Finals Night, as long as they are the person/group that appears on the original recording.

The evening of the Finals will be recorded by BBC Radio Lincolnshire for a programme to be broadcast over the Christmas Break

Seth Lakeman, one of the UK's most established folk singer/songwriters, is to perform at The Baths Hall, Scunthorpe on Saturday, 20 October.

Seth will perform in Scunthorpe as part of a national tour in support of his new album, 'Tales From The Barrel House'. The Scunthorpe show is the only date on the tour in the whole Yorkshire and Humber region.

Two opportunities to secure a slot to perform at this years Riverside Festival in Stamford

Time is running out for bands and other artists to apply to play at the hugely popular Riverside Festival which will be returning to Stamford Meadows this year on Saturday 7th July.

Riverside is organised entirely by volunteers and is a real highlight in the local towns calendar.

The festival organisers are currently interested in hearing from musicians from any genre who would like the chance to perform at this year's festival.

There will once again be 4 stages of Live Music - and as in previous years Riverside's ethos is to provide a platform for bands and artists drawn mostly from the local area and region playing mainly original music. There will also be a smattering of guest artists from across the UK.

Riverside Stage - The main outdoor stage offering a venue without boundaries and featuring live music covering a diverse range of genres.

Marquee Stage - This stage is dedicated to metal, rock, ska, indie, & punk music.

Boomerang/Acoustic Stage - This stage provides a platform for acts with acoustic, folk, jazz, world and blues influences.

Buskers Stage - A less formal stage but increasingly popular year on year offering a packed programme from singer/songwriters, to improvisations or performances by complete ensembles.

The event will also feature a real ale and cider festival, children's entertainment and workshops, traditional fun fair and a firework finale. The event regularly attracts an on site audience of 15,000 people, making it a great way to gain experience of playing to a large audience.

There are two ways of applying to perform - you can use both to increase your chance of selection.
