Kenny Wilson
On Friday 27th May 2005 Kenny Wilson will be launching his new CD at The Black Horse Braunstone Gate Leicester. This day also happens to be his birthday.
The CD is a retrospective of his original songs from the past 30 years. These songs sound deceptively simple, but show a maturity and depth of songwriting, and are expertly sung and played on acoustic guitar by Kenny. The CD also contains bonus tracks of bands he has been involved with including Blue Mountain (with rock legend Ric Grech) and The Lizzards. The CD also features Helen Butterfield on violin and backing vocals.
Kenny Wilson is a legend of the local music scene regularly doing gigs since the late sixties. He currently has residencies at the Black Horse on Tuesdays and The Shed venue every Friday night.
He met Ric Grech in the mid 70s shortly after his collaboration with Gram Parsons and played as a duo and with the band Blue Mountain until the early 80s. Blue Mountain included local legend Stu Wilson on bass.
In the past he has done long residencies at various local venues including the old Crows Nest in the 70s and the Pump and Tap in the early 90s. He has never lost sight of his roots and continues to write songs and perform at all kinds of events.
He plays with local rock band The Lizzards who will be performing at the Arnesby May Fayre this year ( May 30th)
