2012 Update

Katie Abbott & Mel Anderson

This act brings together two great talents: Katie, a highly respected Folk Singer and prolific Songwriter who has trodden "the boards" for many years. Her unique voice is as clear as crystal with husky overtones. An absolute delight.

Mel, a Country/Bluesman who is muched loved for his soft and lyrical voice and song delivery. A joy to listen to. He started performing at the age of 7 and played with many bands in the 60s and 70s.

This meeting of styles promises and offers a wonderful combination of Original and other songwriters' material. Something for all to enjoy.

Katie has been a resident performer at both Alford and Boston Folk Clubs and made guest appearances at many of Lincolnshire's folk clubs including Lincoln, Boston, Alford, Coningsby and The Heart Of Lincolnshire Folk Roots & Blues Clubs over the years.

She has also appeared at the Revesby & East Kirkby Folk Festivals, Cleethorpes and Lincoln Folk Festivals and reached the finals of the BBC Radio Lincolnshire Folk Song Competition on a number of occasions, winning when she sung Mark Addison's song 'Sea Change'. Two of the songs she performed in the finals (Alford Fair &Fenland Fusilier) feature on her CD 'The Art Of Letting Go' .

As well as a solo artist, Katie still fronts The Random Band on occasions. This Boston (Lincolnshire) band whose line up includes Katie, Dave Parkinson, Graham Neish & Mark Addison were formed way back in the mists of time and disappeared for some years re-emerging in the 90's to play a few selected concerts around the county.
