First hit the charts back in 1977 with Wild Willy Barrett with the quirky hit (Cor Baby That's ...) "Really Free'. John then disappeared from the commerical music scene, though he has regularly entertained audiences at theatres and pub venues throughout the land since then. Another Otway song 'Beware Of The Flowers (because they're gonna get you)' was included in the top 10 song lyrics of all time, in a poll a few years back!

Appeared at a sellout gig at the Black Horse in Nettleham in 2002, on his "Hit" tour which culminated when he reached no. 8 in the charts on 6th. October (his 50th. birthday) after an absence of 25 years, with 'Bunsen Burner', much to the consternation of the large record companies who did their best to stop him. He also had a never to be forgotten appearance performing live on Top Of The Pops .

If you have never seen John, he is an experience, a un-assuming man off stage, however once on stage he is a performer possessed, energtic stage show, wacky original songs and covers given the Otway treatment ~ great fun. A stalwart of the major festivals , music and beer . John has played all the main stages and regularly tours with the likes of Dr. Feelgood, who flew back to the UK from Germany just for the night to play support to John on the night of his hit at a sell out gig at the London Palladium.
