Thursday 1st March 2001 ~ £3.00

We are very pleased to welcome back to the club A.G. & Kate who launched the Heart of Lincolnshire Club at its Woodhall venue in 2000.

A.G. & Kate are a duo from Holland, whose infectious music, with folk-styled vocals and old-time country instrumentals have thrilled thousands on both sides of the Atlantic.

Having heard the duo perform 'live in the studio' on Mick Smith's Country music programme early in 1999, we felt that their music which encompasses a variety of styles, including country, bluegrass, folk & Gospel would perhaps encourage a new audience into Lincolnshire's folk clubs. Little did we realise the musical pedigree of the duo we decided to book for our little rural folk club, following that radio show!

They have appeared at a number of major music festivals in the UK, including the Peterborough Country Music Festival, the Greenbelt Christian Festival & the Wembley Country Music Festival, & toured as far north as the Shetland Islands.

They have toured Holland, the UK and America playing their unique brand of old time country/ bluegrass, folk & Gospel, on 5 string-banjo, autoharp, mandolin & guitar, to audiences at clubs, festivals, in churches & prisons.

A.G. & Kate regularly complete 6 month tours of the USA. They have appeared at the Ozark Folk Centre in Mountain View, Arkansas, recording their latest CD 'Live in Mountain View, Arkansas'. During one of their programs in a high security prison in West Virginia, they were presented with a Mountain Dulcimer, made by Rick Ellison one of the inmates as a token of appreciation, it has been a wonderful addition to their other instruments.

They have also appeared at most of the big bluegrass festivals in the USA, the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville & Ernest Tubb's Midnight Jamboree.

Starting their musical career in 1972, they have been on the road full time since 1976, during this time they have recorded over 20 albums.
