AKMED'S CAMEL

CLIFF STOCKER & PAUL LUCKER- (ACOUSTIC SLACK ALICE)

THU 19 JUN

HEART OF LINCS @ THE LINCOLNSHIRE SHOW

Lincolnshire Showground, Lincoln

Earlier in the year we were asked by Deborah Rylatt from Lincolnshire County Council if we would like to arrange 2 acts to represent the Heart Of Lincolnshire Folk, Roots & Blues Club at this year's Lincolnshire Show. Two acts who have supported the club over the years have kindly volunteered their services and we hope to be able to use this valuable opportunity to help promote the Heart Of Lincolnshire Club, to raise its profile and to tell people about our forthcoming programme. This means that there will be no gig at the Eagle Lodge Hotel in June, but we have "3 Hot Nights In July" (see July for details).

AKMED'S CAMEL (3.30 - 4.30 p.m.)

Hailing from Lincolnshire, Akmed's Camel are predomantly a ceilidh band, but they also perform concert sets on occasions. Expect a little of both! This afternoon's set will feature lively traditional and original tunes, and strong and meaningful songs from a variety of singer-songwriters. The five piece band feature Phil Biggs (guitars / vocals), Kim Biggs (accordion / vocals), Mark Addison (bass), Liam Robinson (diatonic accordion / harmonium), Jim (drums) and Tim Cook (caller & sound man). Akmed's Camel first appeared at the old Coningsby Club several years back to help raise funds to back our first major adventure in promoting, when Huw & Tony Williams appeared at the Castle Inn. They have since helped in various ways, Mark via the Folk programme on BBC Radio Lincolnshire whilst Tim often provides the sound on club nights.

CLIFF STOCKER & PAUL LUCKER (11.45 a.m. - 12.45 p.m.)

Cliff and Paul from the Lancashire based band Slack Alice have appeared at the club on a number of occasions, mainly in acoustic format, similar to todays line up. Cliff who plays guitar first formed Slack Alice back in the 70's, hailing from Newcastle, Cliff is a long time friend of Eric Burdon, is renowned for his gravel edged vocals, he also plays the harmonica. If the name Lucker sounds familar, yes Paul is Zoey's (Tanya in ITV's 'Footballers Wives') father, he is also a fine keyboard player who has worked with Slack Alice since their reformation in the mid 90's. They will be playing acoustic blues and jazz standards interspersed with some of Cliff's original songs and stories about some of his experiences during his long musical career.

Thank you to these two acts for their highly valued support
