| THE SUZY MARTELL TRIO TUESDAY 25 JUN 2002 Tickets £4.00 (Accompanied children free entry) / Tel 01526 343989 for advance bookings / info The Heart Of Lincolnshire Folk, Roots & Blues Club welcome back Suzy Martell, who first played a special guest spot when Cathryn Craig & Brian Willoughby played at the club last Autumn. Her set that evening included songs from Mary Gauthier and Jim Criner. Suzy who plays acoustic guitar will be accompanied by Steve Richardson who is a member of Jane MacDonald's touring band on acoustic guitar and Maurice Hipkiss who plays fiddle and lap steel guitar. Both musicans are members of Suzy's UK touring band. A professional singer for many years, she had established herself as one of the country's top solo performers when disaster struck, Suzy having to undergo serious throat surgery and doctors told her parents that Suzy would never sing again. Its a remarkable testament to her determination and love of country music that Suzy has overcome so much to realise her dream. Yet there was still one more disappointment, the offer of a major record contract by a Nashville record company came with a price Suzy would not pay, Shania Clone ... or musical integrity, Suzy chose integrity, releasing her debut album 'Broken Hearts In Nashville' on her self financed label last Autumn. She has recently supported one of her musical heroes, Tom Russell in York and appeared at the city's Opera House, while in September she undertakes an American tour. Before that she jets off to America to write songs with Mary Gauthier and Rosie Flores with a view to recording her next album in the winter. Her appearance at the Heart Of Lincolnshire club is a wonderful opportunity to see this remarkable performer and her talented band in a small village venue!
