|SLACK ALICE (Acoustic)|
Plus support from SUZY MARTELL DUO
THU 12th DECEMBER 2002 (concert starts 8.30pm approx)
The Heart Of Lincolnshire Folk, Roots & Blues Club hold their final concert of the year at the Eagle Lodge Hotel in Woodhall Spa. Members from Slack Alice, one of Britain's finest live blues bands will be performing a unique acoustic show for the club's Christmas party.
The trio feature Cliff Stocker, the amazing frontman and founder member of Slack Alice, guitarist Chris Preston who is also a regular member of the band and keyboard player Paul Lucker, who has worked and recorded with Slack Alice since their reformation in the 90's. They will perform a set of acoustic original songs regularly performed by the full electric band and other favourites such as 'My Little Girl' that feature on the band's three CD's, some exciting new songs and blues and jazz standards.
A singer whose gravel toned voice oozes the blues, Cliff also plays harmonica and acoustic guitar, during his long and fascinating career he has played with artists such as John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon and more. Cliff will relate some of the many stories he has to tell between songs. Chris Preston is a major factor in the band's sound, tonight he will be playing acoustic guitar, including slide whilst talented keyboard player Paul Lucker provides superb backing.
Regularly touring nationally, Slack Alice are one of the favourite acts at the Great British R'n'B Festival at Colne, they have also headlined at the Skegness Rock & Blues and Maryport Festivals in 2002.
During this time they have also appeared at Blackfriars Arts Centre in Boston, the Embassy Centre in Skegness as well as a sell out concert at the Workhouse Folk & Blues Club, whilst the full electric band drew a large crowd to Woodhall last April. This though will be a very rare opportunity to see another side of this fabulous band in an intimate venue!
The Suzy Martell Duo provide a contrasting support act. Yorkshire born Suzy is accompanied by acoustic guitarist Keith, they will be performing a mix of country and blues influenced songs, including numbers by Sheffield blues artist Frank White which also feature on her debut CD, 'Broken Hearts IN Nashville' which was recorded in USA.
