TUE 25 MAR 2003 ~ Tickets £4.00

Just over two years ago we booked this unknown (in Lincolnshire!) American artist to play at our club. We're not known for booking 'cert' audience pullers, as we like to be a little adventurous ~ one of our most exciting finds has been this remarkable guitarist from New Jersey. Unfortunately few people in Lincolnshire have seen Ruth perform still, but hopefully many will put this right tonight!

Primary a fingerstyle performer whose songwriting is heavily influenced by swing, blues & folk. Drawing on American roots music which enables her to demonstrate her strength's as an accomplished guitarist, songwriter and vocalist. The first thing that strikes her audiences is her powerful guitar playing, her finger style technique has great latitide due to the variety of tunings she uses combined with swing picking and slide sounds.

Strong vocal accompaniment adds to her live performances, whilst her excellent original songs reflect her humorous personality and compassionate nature. She also performs selected covers, her version of 'House Of The Rising Sun' will make the hairs on your neck stand up!

In a world where great musicians are often the ones who aren't famous, Ruth Wyand is a prime example! Between gigs she has worked as a tram driver and climbed 50 foot rope ladders to adjust lighting illuminating stars such as such as Janet Jackson, Tom Jones, Brooks & Dunn and Britney Spears.or setting up wireless headsets for belly dancing lip-syncing superstars.

These jobs have enabled this talented artist to be able to afford to build a studio and record her latest superb album 'Distant Drums' ~ the follow up to earlier albums by the Ruth Wyand Band and solo live recordings. We are delighted that Ruth will be including a visit to the Heart Of Lincolnshire Club as part of her 2003 UK Tour.
