Thursday 4th September

Cootie & The Harpman, alias Dick Appleton and Ken Mayle will be appearing at the Eagle Lodge Hotel in Woodhall Spa. Lincolnshire's folk fans may be familiar with the folk blues guitarist Dick Appleton, whilst the county's blues fans will need no introduction to Ken 'The Harpman!' Mayle who has performed with the Walter Harpman Band both at venues locally, and further afield. Ken also fronted that band at major blues festivals at home and in Europe.

Dick and Ken joined forces as a duo in the late 90's; together they play some of the most authentic blues you'll ever hear outside of the Mississippi Delta.

From Son House to John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters to Big Bill Broonzy, they pay homage to the hard travellin', hard drinking, hard workin' days in the dust bowls, cottonfields and juke joints of a bygone era, except that the blues are as relevant today as they ever were!

Their debut at the Great British R'n'B Festival in 1999 drew no less than 5 encores from a crowd who know and love their music ~ live ~ authentic and well performed. They continued to appear at venues in the East Midlands into the new millennium, impressing audiences wherever they played, though concerts have been less frequent of late. They also released the acclaimed CD 'An Hour From The 70; Crossroads Diner' in 1999.

The gig at Woodhall will be Cootie & The Harpman's farewell encore, and will provide Lincolnshire's music lovers with one last opportunity to see the duo in action before Ken 'The Harpman' Mayle leaves for a new life in France.

Their first appearance at the Heart of Lincolnshire Club drew one of its largest attendances and left the crowd buzzing. Tickets for the concert on Thursday 4th September are priced at £5.00, doors open at 8pm for 8.30pm.
