We are thrilled to be able to bring Nashville based singer-songwriter Toni Catlin to the Heart Of Lincolnshire Folk, Roots & Blues Club as part of her second UK tour. Toni who originates from Vermont is now living in Tennessee is currently undertaking her second tour of Britain, though this will be her first appearance in Lincolnshire.
A singer songwriter, Toni's musical influences include Jackson Browne, Shawn Colvin, Linda Ronstadt and Patty Griffin to name but a few. Her remarkable debut CD 'Heartache On The Run' full of great songs has received rave reviews, both sides of the Atlantic. Its fresh and indelibly melodic tunes and sensual rhythms combine with the lonesome cry in her voice that is both delicate, yet powerful with an honesty that engages her audiences from the outset.
Her passion for travel and other cultures led her to Europe, Central America and eventually Boulder, Colorado where she performed regularly in the Rockies ski towns, in between indulging in her other great passion skiing. The emerging star then moved to Nashville, winning the prestigious Merlefest Song Writing competition with 'Me And My Heartache On The Run' a song co-written with Gwil Owen in 2001.
Toni's debut CD 'Heartache On The Run' comprising of 10 tracks has received critial acclaim not only in the USA, but also here in the UK. 'Toni borrows a moan from Patty Loveless, a sigh from Alison Krauss ... expect a double dose of longing from this promising new artist" (Creative Loafing Magazine ~ Atlanta, Georgia).
Regular listeners to the Saturday night Bob Harris show may have caught her session when Bob broadcast his show from Nashville in Nov 2001, with Toni playing 'live' in the studio and also being interviewed. Toni will also be featured 'in session' on Bob Harris's Thursday night Country / Americana show on Thu 4 July 2002!
Now Lincolnshire 'Whiperers' have an opportunity to see this remarkable performer playing live in the county ~ so please come along and support our efforts to bring you 'live' the music you hear on Bob's excellent programmes.
