THU 27 MAY
The Heart Of Lincolnshire Folk, Roots & Blues Club proudly present for the first time in Lincolnshire, an exciting new talent recently 'discovered' by Bob Harris. Lancashire based singer-songwriter Angie Palmer began her career busking in Paris and later spent seven years touring throughout Europe. She later performed on the Acoustic Stage at the Glastonbury Festival on two occasions. 2004 finds Angie's original music reaching a far wider audience following airplay of songs from 'Road' on Bob Harris's Saturday Night programmes.
Bob describes Angie as "One of Britain's best current Singer-Songwriters" and her music as "absolutely gorgeous...wonderful music from the album road"
"Angie Palmer, is a tremendous acoustic guitarist and singer whose obvious heroine is Joni Mitchell, but she can also work up a blues growl. It's hard to pull off an album with nothing but your guitar and voice, but she does it with ease." J. Cushley - Mojo Magazine
'Road' is Angie's third album, following on from 'A Certain Kind Of Distance' and 'romantica obscura'. Its been described as "one of the most striking independent releases I've heard..." by Neil Pearson of Fish Records.
Angie draws on her love of Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell and Gillian Welch and her Americana influenced songs have a rootsy blues feel, full of emotion and strong guitar work.
For her concert in Woodhall Spa, Angie will be working with a second guitarist Mark Townsen described as "a tremendous acoustic guitarist and singer" - Mojo. Mark was a member of The Swamp Dogs blues band and is a master of many styles.
This concert provides an ideal opportunity to see a rising star performing in a small club setting. Book your tickets now!
