GUY TORTORA BAND

This British based American guitarist first appeared in the county with his band at Spalding Blues Club several years back. Guy was born and raised in Pasadena, but now lives in London.

A songwriter, vocalist, guitar player, his work combines elements of jazz, folk, blues and country music in both his original songs and in the songs he chooses to cover.

Guy's music doesn't encompasses the Delta or Chicago blues styles, having its own sound that may not always appeal to the blues purists, those whose tastes are more eclectic will find 'Footnote To The Blues' released in 2002 an excellent album, that they'll play and play.

He released a follow up CD 'Jefferson Drive' in 2004, many of the songs on this album were apparently inspired by Guy's formative years in Pasadena, Ca. It too features original material ranging from blues to bluegrass, acoustic and electric.

Playing acoustic, electric and bottleneck guitar, Guy's playing has been compared to Ry Cooder to the late American bluesman, Rainier.

Accomplished UK musicians Janos Bajtala (Keyboards), Brendan Canty (Bass) and Neil Littman (Drums) form his band, lucky audiences like those who caught the band's first appearance in Lincolnshire are sometimes treated to backing vocals by the "UK Family Jewels" of Frankie & Bex.

The band are recording a session for Paul Jones' blues programme in April 05, scheduled for broadcast in July 05.
