Formed originally in the late summer of 1999 this Sleaford based four piece band featured Chris Clark (acoustic guitar / vocals), & Mike Wilson (drums). Jon Hill (bass/vocals) joined in feburary 2000, by the time lead axeman and vocalist Jay Pearce joined their lineup Glass Onion were already well known to the Lincolnshire band scene.

With this lineup in place things began to happen faster for the band. In the process of growing a sizeable and loyal fan base the band stormed through the 2002 Boston Battle of the Bands and won out against stiff opposition. The group has already played at over 350 gigs since forming.

During this time the band's repertoire varied from venue to venue, at some venues the band played totally original Chris Clark penned songs. On other occasions the band presented their own arrangements of well known covers with current material by Travis, Blur, Stereophonics or Radiohead all mixed with several superb renditions of Beatles classics.

On other occasions they played a seamless blend of both covers and original material. Glass Onion's music appealing to all ages and is just as at home on the maturer audience club scene as it is in front of a young crowd at a rock pub or university venue.

The band originally took their name from the well known John Lennon penned Beatles song. They moved towards a fresher, deeper, more commercial sound for 2003 and recently produced a CD of all original songs called 'Reach For The Sun'.

The band has already appeared on Sky digital and the CD has received airplay on BBC Radio Lincs and other local radio stations around the country. They recorded a new single "I Can Breathe" in a major London studio with the session produced by Andrew East, Chairman of the Music Producers Guild of Great Britain; they headlined at the 2002 VIBE Festival and topped the bill at the famous London venue "The Hope and Anchor" during 2002.

With the national music media and several record companies showing growing interest in Glass Onion during 2002, the band suffered a set back in March 2003 when Jay left the band, and several months passed before the band emerged with a new guitarist, Matt from Newark. As well as a new guitarist the band also have some new songs, which some of their many fans will have heard already! They are 'Hear The Call', 'Sweat and Cruel
Intentions'. These have been recorded for inclusion on a new album, which will have more new material that Glass Onion are currently working on.

The new line-up is concentrating solely on original music, which has sadly resulted initially in less gigs in their local area, Glass Onion are however hoping to establish themselves as a nationally gigging band, so if you know of any venues which promote original bands, get in touch with the band (email ) .
