The 1st Lincolnshire Folk Song Competition took place in May 1992 at Spislby Theatre. Here are the 12 songs which made the first final back then. The first competition was recorded and a cassette tape released in 1993 (BTL005), royalties from the sale of the cassette were donated to BBC Radio Lincolnshire's 'Go For Gold' appeal.
It is doubtful if this cassette is still available, but in the first instance contact BBC Radio Lincolnshire or BTL Tapes (tel 01572 775006) if you are searching for a copy of the first 'Song For Lincolnshire' Competition.
For the record Dave Vermond (a singer songwriter living in Yorkshire!) was the winner, with John and Penny Sykes and The Old Parrot Band taking the runners-up prizes. So a remarkable story was born!
