AG & KATE - A unique duo from Holland! - Both sing & play guitar, in addition AG plays the autoharp while Kate plays 5 string banjo & mountain dulcimer. Infectious & endearing folk style vocals combined with old time country instrumentals, the duo play a fasinating mix of country, folk & Gospel music & have recorded over 20 albums. AG & Kate spend most of the year on the road touring music clubs, concert halls, festivals, churches & prisons in their homeland, across the USA & throughout the UK including the Shetland Islands where the folk-singing islanders introduced AG & Kate to the old folk hymns which changed their lives & added a new dimension to their musical repertoire. The duo have performed at the Wembley Country Music Festival, the Peterborough Country Music Festival & the Greenbelt Christian Festival, & have played at top venues in the USA, including The Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Ernest Tubb's Midnight Jamboree & many bluegrass festivals. In 1999 AG & Kate undertook a 6 month tour of the USA, playing in 11 different states with performances at the Ozark Folk Centre, in Mountain View. The duo last toured Britain in Feb 1999, when they played live in the BBC East Midlands studio on Mick Smith's Country Music show, a performance which showed that their music crosses over a variety of musical boundries. BILL ALEXANDER - Country artist based in St Andrews, Scotland, Bill plays an interesting mix of modern country, golden oldies including songs by Merle Haggard, Gene Watson and Lefty Frizzell, original songs and even some cajun numbers.
ALISON J & UNION - New country style 4 piece band, with Adrian Beale, ex Lazy Dog multi-instrumentalist on fiddle, mandolin, electric & acoustic guitars, harmonica, & lap steel guitar, Alison Carnell (lead vocals / rhythm guitar), Jake Pinto (percussion) & Simon Timperley (electric & acoustic bass). Formed in 1998, the band play songs by Mary Chapin Carpenter, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Trish Yearwood, George Strait, Willie Nelson & Waylon Jennings. PAUL BAILEY - Soloist very much influenced by Dave Sheriff (Mr Linedance), well they are neighbours! Guitar & backing tracks with count in, & dance suggestions expected for the dancers. Paul who hails from Shropshire is building himself a fine reputation on the British country music circuit. A country artist who includes some original numbers, interspersed with ever popular cover songs in his entertaining live shows. His debut album 'Tush Pushin' and the follow up 'Kickin' Country' which feature all original songs are available at gigs or via P B Music. Another album 'By Request' (also available) includes the award winning song 'Golden Wings' a tribute to Tammy Wynette.
BURNT WATER - Duo, formed in September 1999 after performing in other bands Bernie Underwood who plays keyboard and sings lead vocals along with Tony Albins, guitar and vocalist formed Burntwater. Ipswich based, they have been making a name for themselves in the Suffolk, Norfolk and Essex areas, but are slowly spreading to wider away from home. Their album, Beyond The Sun, is the first they have produced but owing to it's success, they are right now working on another due to be released soon. The material on the album is a mixture of the music they perform at live venues and makes good listening to, especially the slower numbers. Bernie and Tony have played supporting acts for Raymond Froggatt and Ann Breen and have appeared many festivals and concerts in the last two years and the future looks good for them. BILLY J - Based locally in Horncastle, Billy J is a regular performer around Lincolnshire's venues. A performer whose live sets feature both country and Irish songs. His wide repertoire includes songs from as far back as the 30's, as well as numbers from modern days British stars such as Charlie Lansborough and Raymond Froggatt. There are covers of Tom T Hall and Randy Travis songs, Billy J is both an entertainer and a skilled musician.
FRANCES BLACK - Frances began her career touring with her family to promote 'The Black Family' Album, & went on to join the internationally famed group Arcady. Her solo career was launched with her inclusion amongst the best of Ireland's female singers on the million selling album 'Woman's Heart' in 1993. By 1996 Frances's unique talent saw her step out of the shadow of her famous sister Mary. Her Autumn tour coincides with the release of her new album.
BRAXTON HICKS - The Braxton Hicks play country boogie with a great New Country feel to it, with songs by Steve Earle, Dwight Yoakham & Hank Williams and more... the band feature Carl Plover (ex Country Pie) on guitar & vocals, Egly Lucas, guitar & vocals (ex Walter Harpman Band),Gary Rudd (bass & vocals), Mick Dixon (pedal steel) & Trevor Ferrnley (drums).
ANN BREEN BAND - Popular Irish singer continues series of concerts promoted by Gosberton Youth Club, entertaining with her own distinctive sound & style. Another popular, & a local performer Darren Busby provides the evening's support act. Ann, brought up in a musical family first starred whilst still at school, winning a major award at the age of 9, & fronting her pop band Ann & The Country Band. Working as a semi pro after leaving school (she was a secretary by day), Ann recorded her debut album 'Country Songbird' in 1981 (later renamed after the hit single taken from it), 'Pal of My Cradle Days' the single was a minor hit in the UK, reaching number 69 in 1983 & re-entering at 74 in 1984. BRUCE'S COUNTRY - Lincoln born solo artist who plays a mix of popular country based music from Jim Reeves to Elvis. Following a time in the Navy and 10 years as in mining, he moved back to Lincoln. DAVE BRYAN - Country performer from Wakefield, who has through his career built up a large and varied repertoire of songs, including old country numbers from the 20's & 30's, right up to the modern day with Garth Brooks, Charlie Lansborough and LeAnn Rimes. In between savour songs by Alan Jackson, Tom Russell and Brian Golby who was a member of the short lived band Cajun Moon in the mid 70's.
THE BUSHBURYS - Take a magical mystery tour with these Urban Hillbillies as they cross the Atlantic Bridge from Celtic, English & Hobo folk, to Cajun, Bluegrass & Country stomp. RONAN BROWNE & PETER LOUGHLIN - A unique opportunity to hear 2 of Ireland's finest musicians. Peter plays the flute & pipes but it's as a fiddle player that he has established a reputation as one of the most influential musicians playing in Ireland today. Now approaching 70 he has been a recording artist for more than 40 years. Ronan plays the Uileann Pipes & he has worked with Elvis Costello & Peter Gabriel, he is also the original piper on the world famous 'Riverdance'.

CAPICORN DUO - Merseyside based duo who now travel to venues throughout the country, they put emphasis on variety & good country music, & also include some original songs in their live sets. Fronted by lead vocalist Peter Guy, who also plays the bass, whilst lead guitarist John Williams provides excellent harmonies.
TONI CATLIN - American performer Toni Catlin is the latest guest from the States to appear at the Heart Of Lincolnshire Folk, Roots and Blues Club which holds regular gigs at the Eagle Lodge Hotel in Woodhall Spa. Toni who originates from Vermont is now living in Tennessee is currently undertaking her second tour of Britain, though this will be her first appearance in Lincolnshire. A singer songwriter, Toni's musical influences include Jackson Browne, Shawn Colvin, Linda Ronstadt and Patty Griffin to name but a few. Her remarkable debut CD 'Heartache On The Run' full of great songs has received rave reviews, both sides of the Atlantic. Its fresh and indelibly melodic tunes and sensual rhythms combine with the lonesome cry in her voice that is both delicate, yet powerful with an honesty that engages her audiences from the outset. Her passion for travel and other cultures led her to Europe, Central America and eventually Boulder, Colorado where she performed regularly in the Rockies ski towns, in between indulging in her other great passion skiing. The emerging star then moved to Nashville, winning the prestigious Merlefest Song Writing competition with 'Me And My Heartache On The Run' a song co-written with Gwil Owen in 2001. Later in the year Toni was one of the studio guests when BBC Radio Two DJ 'Whispering' Bob Harris presented his Saturday night programme from Nashville. STEVE CHASE - Singer songwriter from Mansfield, Steve has recently been a guest on Mick Smith's Country music show.
STEVE CHERELLE - Southend based performer, Steve plays guitar with backing tapes. His musical career started on TV's 'Stars In Their Eyes' programme when he won as 'John Denver'. Since then Steve repertoire is far more extensive and includes both country songs, popular hits with roots in the country sound and original songs. Expect laid back ballads from The Eagles, Neil Diamond, Charlie Lansborough, Raymond Froggatt, Randy Travis and John Prine during Steve's live shows.
COUNTRY CATTIN' - An authentic Rockabilly / Hillbilly / Country Trio from Lincoln England, Made up of members from Hicksville Bombers & Blue Dots, an album has been released on www.vampirella.de they perform a lot of original material mixed with covers from Elvis, Hank Williams, Lefty Frizzell, Hank Snow, Johnny Horton. A project band featuring David Brown of The Hicksville Bombers (rhythm guitar), Paul Chambers of The Blue Dots & Hubcaps (double bass) & Nathan Young of Big Pete Young & Blockbuster (lead guitar). The band have already done a number of gigs, & has just got a recording deal - already a venue in Jefferson in Texas is interested in sorting some gigs out. COUNTRY COMPANY - Clive & Sandra are undoubtedly among the top six most popular acts on the British country music scene. They hail from the small village of Crossgates, near Llandrindod Wells in the heart of mid Wales and have been involved in country music since the mid 70's. After the early years when they entertained in various guises - family groups, local concerts etc, they formed Country Company as a trio in 1979 and spent the next 10 years working all over the country as a semi pro act. In 1988 they became fully professional, the trio becoming a duo, since taking this step Country Company's popularity has grown & grown. Over the past decade they have received over 60 awards at club level and were honoured to have been voted British Country Music's 'Most Popular British Duo' three time in the past 6 years by readers of the Country Music Round-Up newpapers. They have built up a massive following all over the country, at home in front of any audience, be it dance, concert or theatre Country Company's shows include delightful banter and easy listening songs, making their entertaining shows a joy to watch and listen to. THE DALTONS - Comedy duo who've entertained audiences for many years. If Madelaine can get Mark to stop stop fooling around (which doesn't happen very often!) they produce some lovely country songs with good harmonies & lots of energy.
DR BOB'S ACOUSTIC ROOTS & BLUES - Leicestershire based band formed late 1995, their unusual music is best described as roots music with a Deep Southern feel, drifting into country blues & Latin as well as hints of Jazz & Country. Their debut CD 'Southern Tonic' includes such gems as J.J. Cale's 'Sensitive Kind' & the traditional 'John The Revelator' as well as some fine original songs, such as 'Give It To Me Baby'. Were guests on Mick Smith's Country Radio Show in Oct 1999, playing a number of songs in the studio.
MARY DUFF - One of Ireland's top singers, Mary was raised in a musical family, performing first with her accordion playing father at local gigs. Like so many, at first she balanced a 'proper' day job (a secretary), with a semi professional musical career. For a while after leaving school she was a part-time member of the chart topping group, Jukebox. Spotted in the late 80's by Daniel O'Donnall's manager in a talent competition, Mary was signed to Ritz Records, & won the European Gold Star Award in 1989, in 1990 she was acclaimed The RTE Guide 'Favourite Female Vocalist'. By 1991 she was voted Britain's most favourite female vocalist. Since then sell out tours, more awards & a collection of fine albums have followed, the accolade 'the Irish Queen of Country Music' seems fitting to this mega popular performer. MICHAEL ENGLISH - Real coup for the Gosberton Youth Club, Michael is the latest teenage singing sensation to come out of Ireland. This young performer from County Kildare sold a massive 30,000 copies of his debut single, 'Nearest To Perfect' in Ireland. He released his debut album 'The Nearest To Perfect' in the UK earlier in 1999. Whether he is leading the sing-a-long or singing an emotional ballad, Michael shows he has the talent to be the biggest name in Country / Irish music! Songs from the album will feature in his live show.
FAIRHEAD & GRAY - Stella & Gary are one of the best duo's around at the moment. Gary's self written 'I'll Be There' & 'Tonight' are brilliant solid country songs, whilst Stella's version of Roy Orbison's 'You Got It' is incredible!
FOSTER & ALLEN - Foster & Allen celebrate 22 years in show business with the release of a new album 'Nothing But The Best' timed to coincide with the UK tour.
RAYMOND FROGGATT - Froggie as he is known by his legion of fans, is regarded as a country music artist, though he started his career as a pop performer with the band Monopoly. His songs cut right across music genres & generations, & have been covered by many artists, including Cliff Richard, Gladys Knight, Daniel O'Donnell & Dominic Kirwan, perhaps the best known though is 'Red Balloons' which was recorded by Monopoly, but became a hit for the Dave Clark 5. Froggie can make an audience laugh or cry with emotion, reaching out and wringing the heart like no other songwriter. There will be an opportunity to hear songs from his latest album release, 'Songwriter' when he undertakes an national tour in Spring 2001.
MERVYN J. FUTTER - Partynight at The Cherokee Club on 4 Sep. our monthly free buffet seems insignificant to the atmosphere created by this lovely soloist. His CD "You Are No Angel" features 20 tracks with suggested dances & b.p.m. for the linedancers, but is equally good to listen to. This was followed up by the 6 track 'I Ride A Horse' CD, which features 2 original songs 'Circles' & 'Plan For Your Tomorrows', & 4 covers including Raymond Froggatt's 'I Ride A Horse' & Merle Haggard's 'Swinging Doors'. VINCE GILL - Country singer songwriter, who Mark Knopfler tried to enlist into Dire Straits a few years ago. He has recently recorded a duet with Barbara Streisand.
TONY GOODACRE - Described as Britain's 'Mr Country Music', Tony has over 4 decades of experience behind him in his chosen field. Needless to say over the years he has built up a vast reportoire of music, from around the world.
KENN GORDON - Lincoln based Country singer / guitarist - city shoppers may have heard Kenn busking in the city centre. He plays a wide range of covers, Country - from the traditional 'Old Rugged Cross', to the modern 'Achy Breaky Heart' & popular including Eric Clapton's 'Tears In Heaven', & some bayou style music.
JOHN GRANT - Hails from Washingborough, one of LIncoln's own singers / enertainers. Recently played at the R.N.A. Club & was much appreciated by those in attendance. He performs a varied selection of songs.
DALE GREEN DUO - Dale Green & Kenny Woods used to travel the length & breadth of the country playing their good selection of country music suiting all ages. (Sadly Dale Green died in Feb 2004 aged 61 following a long illness)
GRINGO - Country duo from Grimsby, Michael & Vic play traditional country music such as that of Merle Haggard, Ernest Tubbs and Freddy Fender, but their perference is the contemporary style including Travis Tritt, Alan Jackson and Hank Williams Jr. They also include some Irish country songs in their live performances. THE HALEY SISTERS - A popular country duo, Jo-Ann & Becky. Their 1997 album 'The Angels Break Free' features a wide variety of songs, including numbers by Rodney Crowell, Suzy Bogguss and Randy Vanwarmer. Folk fans will be interested to note that the CD also contains two songs by Julie Matthews, 'Sleep On It' and 'Blue Songs On A Red Guitar'.
GARY HALL - Described by the Gardian as 'Preston's Celtic soul man, infused with the epic sweep of Springsteen.' whilst Folk Roots heard 'touches of Dylan, souped up Burrito Brothers, straight foward with the power of a freighttrain'. Since releasing his 'What Goes Around ...' album in 1993, Gary has toured extensively throughout Europe, & recorded his follow up CD 'Twelve Strings & Tall Stories' in Nashville. A singer songwriter whose material encompasses folk & New Country.

HICKSVILLE BOMBERS - The Bombers are considered to be one of the top rockabilly bands in the world at the moment. They come from Lincoln but play all over the world. The band have recently released their 3rd CD, 'Bombs Away' (taking its title from the band's dramatic live set opening song!), most of the songs being self written. They have performed with many top stars, & big festivals they recently appeared on the same bill as Mark Knopfler's Notting Hillbillies.
HICKSVILLE BOMBERS - County based rockabilly trio renowned for their lively live performances. They have released 2 CD's, several vinyl singles & tapes, including 'On The Loose' . Their music has strong blues influences & a country flavour, indeed the band were featured on Mick Smith's Country music programme last summer.
THE BOMBERS UNPLUGGED - Dave Brown (vocals & guitar) & Pete O'Brien (double bass & vocals) of The Hicksville Bombers, play an acoustic set of roots music, comprising of covers & original songs, selected with a country, folk & blues influence, including numbers by Hank Williams, Elvis, Lightnin' Hopkins & The Mavericks.
HONEST TRUTH - Reviews of this 4 piece band are consistantly good, wherever they play! 'The talent in this band is awesome' / 'A brilliant show' (North Country Music & Dancing). The band who now feature Brian Collins in their line-up, play songs by Alan Jackson, Tim McGraw, Hank Williams Junior & the young Canadian singer Paul Brandt, as well as a number of original songs written by the band's songwriter Pete Nathan.
HUMDINGER - Fiery fiddle from Julie, finger picking banjo & guitar from Graham & guitar from Jim are the basic ingredients for Humdinger's bluegrass, folk & blues songs & tunes, add double bass & guest musicians to their line up, + beer & a lively night's music is assured! INCLINE DUO - Duo performing ground roots country songs by artists such as Pasty Cline, Billy Jo Spears, Kitty Wells and Ruby McNeil, sung by female singer Toni who has a strong voice, she is accompanied by Martin on keyboards.
THE INDIANS - Few bands on the Irish entertainment circuit have the intense loyal following of the fabulous Indians. Now 30 years on the road, this colourful Irish showband in full costume fronted by Kevin Kearney, present one of the most energetic & exciting live shows to be seen anywhere. They perform a cross section of material, with original numbers such as 'Wigwam Wiggle', Irish songs including 'Galway Bay', Buddy Holly hits and popular ballads
IVOR JAMES - Fine cover versions & good quality original songs, with a few gags thrown in for good measure, Ivor provides a good evenings entertainment.
JOLENE & BARRY - Prior to 76, Jolene had been working as a solo artist, whilst Barry had played in various pop groups. They turned pro in 1976, forming their first group, a trio, later a 4 piece band,before becoming a duo in 1985. In the early part of their career they appeared on many light entertainment shows for Scottish TV, Grampian TV and BBC Scotland, more recently they have guested on various country music radio programme, where their albums are regularly played. Jolene & Barry have also toured extensively abroad, notably Switzerland, Holland, France, Cyprus, Spain, Portugal, and twice to USA, where they have worked with acts such as Don Williams, Roy Clarke, Hank Thompson and Boxcar Willie. In the UK, they are a highly regarded live act and have been voted most popular act at country clubs as far apart as Elgin in the north of Scotland to Basingstoke in the south of England. They are also resident act on all Tony Best Leisure Events in the UK and also appear in Portugal for TBL. In between their work at home and abroad as a duo, Jolene & Barry also find time to tour with their great friends Texas Gun and together they stage their highly popular 'Jocks Away Show'. Currently (2001) they have 4 albums available on CD (though in their career they have recorded 14 albums in total). Their new album 'Somewhere Between', produced and recorded at Texas Gun's studios in Ayrshire, has been critically acclaimed as their best album to date.

When he's not tending his chickens & other livestock he's turning out some good country on his guitar with quality backing tracks ~ Mike Malik is better known as Mick from Jack Of Diamonds duo - guitar player / tracks with lovely deep voice.

SARAH JORY - Acclaimed young British Country performer, backed by the superb Sarah Jory Band. Sarah, who started her musical career in the East Midlands, performs both covers & original songs, as well as playing a variety of instruments, including guitar & keyboards. Voted the top British Country rock singer in again 1999, Sarah's great live performances have won her many fans, she released her latest CD 'Kiss My Innocence' earlier in the year. DOLORES & SEAN KEANE - For the first time 2 of Ireland's greatest singers tour the UK together. Dolores began her professional career in the 70's, when she worked with De Dannan. She performed on the million selling 90's album 'A Woman's Heart'. Brother Sean was voted Male Performer Of The Year by the readers of Irish Music Magazine in 1997, & 1998. Their show together will feature an inimitable mix from all shades of song based musical traditions - folk, country & rock - Sean's rich, distinctively smooth voice, in company with an exceptionally fiery guitar based band, complements Dolores more strident style & preference for piano based material, each will perform solo material as well as duets.
KRIS KELLY - With her bubbly personality & great voice, Kris is a great live performer, her sets include original songs & well chosen covers such as Bette Midler's 'The Rose'. Kris has many years experience as a singer, songwriter and all-round entertainer, since her return from Norway, she has established herself as one of Britain's favourite solo acts on the country music scene. Nominated for the Best Female Artist award by the BCMA, North Country, and Country Music Roundup magazines in 1993, 1994, 1995 and 1996, Kris has been voted Soloist of the Year at a number of country clubs. In 1997 she toured with a band for the first time for many years to promote her CD "Dawn of a New Beginning" (which features mostly original material) playing at Arts Centres and smaller dance orientated clubs. She toured with a band again in 1998 performing a wide variety of songs, from country roots to up-to-the minute CMTV hits, as well as popular Irish country songs. CHARLIE LANDSBOROUGH - Former school t eacher who has made a name for himself singing gentle & romantic, melodic country ballads. His songs have been covered by other top performers, including Foster & Allen (I Will Love You All My Life) & George Hamilton IV ('Heaven Knows').
MIKE LANE - 'Probably the oldest swinger in town' says Gill of Cherokee Club. (he'll strangle me for that, she adds!). A soloist from Doncaster, using quality backing tracks, he plays the guitar to good effect, producing an energetic show. Covering a lot of dance material as well as old country, Mike is an all round entertainer.
PENNY LANG - Dubbed 'Silverwolf' by the Canadian media, this small fiftysomething commands attention. She has a voice that caresses, strong & true. ALBERT LEE & HOGAN'S HEROES - One the world's finest guitarists makes a long overdue return to Lincolnshire, Albert Lee's impeccable pedigree stretches over many years, both touring & recording with some of the top names in both the country & rock circles, including Emmylou Harris, Eric Clapton & Joan Armatrading. DENNIS LOCORRIERE - His distinctive vocals & song writing skills are renowned, the lead singer with Dr Hook is taking time out & touring with his own band, featuring Rod Smarr (of Dr Hook - guitar), Benny Gallagher (bass), Mike Bell (keyboards) & Pick Withers, who has worked with Dire Straits & Bob Dylan on drums. JEZ LUTON - Jez's recent CD 'Language of The Heart' has received airplay on local BBC stations, including Mick Smith's Country Music Show. The CD includes a number of original songs & the Richard Thompson classic 'Beeswing'. Vikki Clayton also features on the album. He also caught the eye of Tom Paxton following an impromptu performance after Tom's gig in Grantham, & through this supported Tom on a recent tour.
JOHN E. MAC - From Metheringham, a well known soloist performs 50's & 60's songs & some lovely cover versions of Daniel O'Donnell songs. His 'Elvis' earned him YTV's Elvis Impersonator award a few years ago. His rich deep voice is supported by good backing tracks operated by sound engineer Dave.
MANSON GRANT & THE DYMANOS - Scottish band led by seasoned performer Manson Grant who has been playing for around 30 years. Alongside Manson, drummer Robert & young lead guitarist Keith, who also plays mandolin complete the band's line up. Manson plays keyboards and on occasions trumpet, sax and accordion. Playing uptempo country songs including covers of songs by Don Williams, Conway Twitty, Moe Bandy & Buck Owens the band are regular bill-toppers in both Britain and overseas.
SUZY MARTELL TRIO - Suzy made a special guest appearance at the Heart Of Lincolnshire Club in Autumn 2001, supporting Cathryn Craig & Brian Willoughby. Her set that evening included songs from Mary Gauthier and Jim Criner. She returns for a full concert fronting an acoustic trio, Suzy who plays acoustic guitar will be accompanied by Steve Richardson (acoustic guitar) and Maurice Hipkiss (fiddle and lap steel guitar) both members of her UK touring band. A professional singer for many years, she had established herself as one of the country's top solo performers when disaster struck, Suzy having to undergo serious throat surgery and doctors told her parents that Suzy would never sing again. Its a remarkable testament to her determination and love of country music that Suzy has overcome so much to realise her dream. Yet there was still one more disappointment, the offer of a major record contract by a Nashville record company came with a price Suzy would not pay, Shania Clone ... or musical integrity, Suzy chose integrity, releasing her debut album 'Broken Hearts In Nashville' on her self financed label last Autumn. She recently supported one of her musical heroes, Tom Russell at Fibbers and appeared at York Opera House. In July she jets off to America to write songs with Mary Gauthier and Rosie Flores with a view to recording her next album in the winter. Her appearance at the Heart Of Lincolnshire club is a wonderful opportunity to see this remarkable performer in a small acoustic club!
CONOR McKAY - Nicknamed The Singing Brickie, Conor McKay, a 22 year old from County Down, comes armed with a hard hat & trowel fronting his talented 4 piece band. They will play songs ranging from country & Irish to Glenn Miller.
BOB McKINLAY - Formerly a member of the North West Beat group The Long & The Short, who had a top 30 hit record with 'The Letter'. Another fact of interest is that that record featured session musician Jimmy Page (later of Led Zeppelin fame!). After a visit to Nashville he decided to form a country group, becoming a full time professional musician. He has released a number of albums including his debut 'English Born - Dixie Fried'. A very popular performer at clubs around Britain, often touring with his top class band.
STEVE MITCHELL - Steve who appears with John Grant has also been around quite some time, his pleasent vocal style is easy to listen to.
ANGEL MONTGOMERY - Lincolnshire based country artist (alias Mike Starr), his voice is remiscient of Willie Nelson's, and his live repertoire includes a number of Willie's songs, including 'Seven Spanish Angels' and 'Funny How Time Slips Away'. As well as vocals Angel plays acoustic guitar, he is backed by Chris (keyboards) and Mike (lead guitar), he also sings some country based popular songs, including numbers by Roy Orbison.
STEVE PHILLIPS & BRENDAN CROKER - Steve is considered to be one of the finest acoustic guitarists in world. With Brendan he eventually found some of the fame he so richly deserved, playing alongside Mark Knopfler in The Notting Hillbillies. Yet Steve set out on a musical career in 1968, in an acoustic blues duo called The Duolian String Pickers ~ his compatriot being ... one Mark Knopfler! The influence of Steve's guitar skills, reflected in Mark's later work with Dire Straits. Indeed the National Steel guitar that is such a landmark on the 'Brothers In Arms' album cover, was actually brought for Mark, by Steve! A period away from the music scene while Steve worked as a landscape oil painter ended in 1985, when he teamed up with Brendan!

REMINGTON DUO - Sye Madison & Merla met on the circuit, Sye fell in love with Merla's strong voice & dropped his solo career to gain exposure for the duo. When on the road Merla makes Dreamcatchers - funnily enough the name given to their latest CD.
RIVENDEL COUNTRY - Denise & Graham Walker formed the duo in 1987. Playing a wide repertoire of songs, both Graham & Denise sing lead vocals, both play the guitar, Graham also plays banjo. Their CD 'Hero' contains many original songs including 'Poor Joe' written about a meths drinking street busker whose guitar playing capitvated Graham. The duo play both traditional & modern covers as well as originals.
CHELLE ROSE - A USA based Americana singer songwriter whose music leans towards country, Chelle who played 'live' on the Bob Harris show broadcast from Nashville in Nov 2001, makes her Lincolnshire debut in Feb 2002 at Barton On Humber. For more information visit the Chelle Rose website.
TOM RUSSELL - Contemporary American singer songwriter of cult status, makes a rare appearance in our area. Very popular in Europe, especially Norway. His songs are written about a variety of subjects, old steel towns (U.S. Steel), the death of Bill Haley (Haley's Comet) & a down & old blues singer (Blue Wing). Tom's songs have been covered by many other artists including Nanci Griffith, Johnny Cash, Suzy Bogguss & by locally appearing country artists such as Mervyn J. Futter. After a spell away from the music scene, Tom returned starting his own record label 'Trail Music' in the 80's. A performer who crosses a number of musical boundaries, including folk, country & blues.
JIM RYDER - Very popular soloist from Wales. A drum machine, a guitar & the man in the tightest pair of leathers you'll ever did see! Versatile, energetic, comical & good looking too! He performs many songs back to back as totally live artists can. Every country song from 'Black Coffee' to 'Wheels On The Bus'.
COLUM SANDS - A member of the internationally renowned Sands Family, over the past 25 years Colum has appeared both with them & as a solo performer in 26 countries, recording about as many albums along the way. He grew up in a family of musicians in one of Ireland's last great ceilidh houses in County Down, learning to play guitar, concertina, & like his father & grandfather before him, the fiddle. Over the years many famous artists have covered Colum's compositions including Tommy Makem, Liam Clancy, Roy Bailey, June Tabor & Maddy Prior. His second album was even the subject of a special documentary. Needless to say Colum has picked up countless stories & songs on his travels & he weaves these into his performances in an effortless style mixed with a marvellous tongue in cheek sense of humour.
THE SHANKMAN TWINS - Two little known girls from California, who captured the imagination of Geoff who on hearing the girls' CD picked up the phone to book them for his third in a series of concerts, even before the first track had finished playing! Geoff says 'I only wish that the public could hear the Shankman Twins' CD before the event to realise the calibre of the artists'. NADINE SOMERS BAND - Essex trio recently featured on Mick Smiths Country music programme. Featuring one of Britain's top female country singers, Nadine shares the stage with two fine musicians, guitarist Rob Childs (ex City Limits / Greta & The Stray Shots / The Coal Porters) & Bob Keeley, who plays acoustic guitar (ex Glen Mitchell Band / Trouble Shooters / Blackjack). Reviewers up & down the country are united that here is a band that are going places! Local Country reviewer Barry Thistleton (who writes a weekly article in the BostonTarget Newspaper & articles for Country magazines) says "fantastic vocals & harmonies, One of the best New Country Bands on the circuit today", fronted by "Little Miss Dynamite" Nadine, who can sing a "complete gamet of Country styles" (Shenandoah), "A breath of fresh air, out of this world" (Chief Sasku). The bluesy 'Eat At Joes' caught our ears on Mick's programme, the band's live sets include songs by Dolly Parton, Patsy Cline, as well as carefully selected, often rarely heard modern country covers, & original songs. Other facts about the band, Nadine began playing keyboards at the age of 3, & oddly at school the singer who is currently creating quite a stir on the British country music scene, was often the compare at school concerts (though she wanted to sing & play), Rob was a member of the Coal Porters, when they played a special concert to mark the 25th anniversary of Gram Parsons death, whilst Bob is an artist, who specialises in drawings & paintings of animals. SPILL THE BEANS - Husband & wife duo from South Yorkshire - Tony plays lead guitar, mandolin & fiddle, Sue sings & plays acoustic guitar & mandolin. Good harmonies from well turned out duo obviously in tune with each other & their music, which is suitable for line dancing. They include some older songs such as The Oak Ridge Boys 'Elvira' in their reportoire.
ANITA SPOKES DUO - New Country duo formed mid '97. 24 year old lead vocalist Anita who takes her name from a Waylon Jennings song, also plays acoustic guitar, whilst Bob sings harmony vocals, electric lead, acoustic, slide & lap steel guitars. Anita grew up listening with the sound of country music, her parents being avid fans who took her to gigs while still in nappies, where she slept through some of country music's greatest talent. Meanwhile Bob discovered the blues & R & B around the age of 10, & started gigging as a teenager, playing blues & rock. His love of harmonies stems from 60's bands of Buffalo Springfield, CSN & Y, & the Flying Burritos, & 70's groups including The Eagles, Poco & The Outlaws (a great band!). SQUIRREL TOOTH ALICE - Duo from Leeds, Dave Ellis & Tim Delaney rank with some of the country's finest musicans. They take their unique name from a notorious prostitute of the California Goldrush era, who according to legend made more money than any of the gold panners! ~ Their name may help them make some money too! They play cover songs by well known Country artists.
SPEED LIMIT - Country duo Tony & Angie are a popular attraction on the local & national country music circuit. Their cassette album 'Raincheck' has received airplay on both Allan Kyme & Mick Smith's country music programmes on BBC local radio. The album features songs such as 'Mercury Blues' & 'Neon Moon' as well as 'Raincheck', an oiginal song.
TENNESSEE MOON - Male / female duo who are very popular on the Yorkshire circuit, together they produce some gentle harmonies & a good all round sound with a varied selection of songs to suit all tastes.
TEXAS WOLF - Duo consisting of singer / songwriter & guitarist Kenn Gordon & Rob Massey (pedal steel & bass). Both have played individually for several years before recently forming Texas Wolf. Old / New / Sing-a-long & dance tunes which gives them the scope to play for dance or listening venues. On the 24th, Gill, used to sing for fun at The Chaplin Arms in a regular jam session, has been invited to form a trio, to see if she's still got it (!).
HANK WANGFORD & THE LOST COWBOYS - The Hank Wangford sound is synonymous with country & western. Now an accomplisted TV presenter with 2 Channel 4 series to his credit (The A to Z of C & W & Big Big Country). Hank's music is still full of the bite & twang that attracted so many devotees to country music back in the early 80's.
MILES WEST DUO - Miles met Margaret while she was a reporter for North Country Music Magazine. Both play guitar / sing & they have an extensive repetoire of old & new country.
ALAN WESTWOOD - Soloist who's been on the circuit many years & now runs his own agency 'Top Barn Management' - More in tune with the songs of yesteryear, Alan is an all round entertainer.
TONY WHEATLEY - Guitar / vocalist who uses a Technics keyboard for bass, drums & backing. His set includes songs from Jim Reeves, Raymond Froggatt & covers of more modern songs, along with sing-a-long tunes & self penned material.

WISHBONE - 4 piece Country band playing both old & new country covers, including songs by The Eagles & George Strait. All the band sing, adding their superb harmonies to the songs.
CHRIS WHILE & JULIE MATTHEWS - Duo who took 1995 Cambridge festival by storm, Chris teams up with Julie, a dymanic performer & multi-instrumentalist. Julie is recognised as one of the most talented songwriters to have come out of the British Isles. Both are members of the Albion Band.
JIM WORTON - Originally a solo act, Jim was the lead singer in the band Fever, leaving last October to pursue his solo career. His sets feature some of the songs he used to perform with Fever, including 'Honkey Tonk Attitude'. His extensive set also includes such favourites as 'Neon Moon', 'Boot Scootin Boogie' & 'Copperhead Road'. With his mellow voice, & lively numbers Jim's music will appeal to both listeners & dancers alike.
THE WRIGHTS - Popular duo, Les & Sue who have been performing regularly on the country circuit for over 2 years. The strength of their singing & harmonies is immediately apparent & these are backed by fine guitar work from Les, & pleasing instrumentation. Their recent CD 'The Wrights' features a wide selection of material, including Neil Young's 'After The Goldrush', a country rock-cajun song 'Calling Baton Rouge' as well as more traditional, yet uptempo country songs, which will appeal to a wide audience.
