BOSTON FOLK CLUB 2006 PROGRAMME
Following the 2005 AGM it was decided that due to falling attendances, in place of Guest Nights the club will be hosting Singers & Musicians Nights on the second Monday of the Month from Jan 2006 - Aug 2006, unless otherwise stated.
MON 8 MAY
Though a relative newcomer to folk music, Ron is rapidly gaining popularity as one of the folk scenes most prolific songwriters, with a reputation for writing finely crafted songs. At times his vocals and songs are reminscent of Springsteen's quieter work, also a bit like another talented singer songwriter, Pete Morton.
Not only is Ron a truly gifted writer he is also an extremely talented guitarist and multi-instrumentalist. Most of instrumental work on his albums is carried out by himself, although he often invites guest musicians to join him.
MON 11 SEP
The winners of the 2005 Lincolnshire Folk Song Competition open the Autumn Season at Boston Folk Club. From Pitheads to Pint Pots, the trio Clarty Sough pride themselves on the singing about their own history. Geoff Convery, Jim Hancock and Keith Brown promise an evening of songs from the tragic to the comic with plenty of audience participation.
MON 2 OCT
