853, 15th Bn., Australian Infantry, A.I.F. James McConnachie who died Monday 26th April 1915 aged 32 years. James was the Son of Robert and Mary McConnachie, of Newton Pitcandlich, Glenkindie, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Born Towie, Scotland. He is buried in Quinn's Post Cemetery, Anzac, Turkey at grave A.22. John A Taylor, 25013, 1st/4th Bn., Gordon Highlanders is
seen here on the left. Standing to his right is
his brother James. John died on Sunday September 14th,
1919 from war injuries. John is remembered on a tombstone in Towie Kirkyard. He was the son of John Taylor (1857 - 1938) and his wife Christina Kellas (1874 - 1935) who farmed at Culfork in Corgarff, before retiring to Dunanford in the late 1920's.
