LUMSDEN WAR MEMORIAL

WHO ARE WE ?

Can you help identify any of these Lumsden laddies from the Great War ? The pictures are in the possession of Derek Heath who inherited them from his mother Jean Cook, a Lumsden lassie herself. His mother was living in London and would help the Lumsden boys navigate the transport system when they travelled through there. She would also write to them where they served. Unfortunately none of the letters have survived and no names were written on the back of the photographs to identify who they were. Did they make it home safely, or do they appear on the war memorial as a casualty ?

Derek would like anyone who recognises the individual in a picture to contact him at : ****Derek.Heath@btinternet.com (Note: Remember to remove the stars to get the correct email address. These are added to foul webcrawlers).

I have identified the uniforms to the best of my knowledge in the hope that this helps.

Picture No.4 has been identified as Pte. Robert Smith, S/25110, 7th Bn. Seaforth Highlanders who died on the 25th of April 1918 aged 19.

His photograph has been moved to the Photograph's Page.

With thanks to Jas Grant of the Kinnethmont website fame. Jas found his likeness in the North of Scotland Bank WW1 Memorial Book and was kind enough to pass it on.
